Verity was glad that he didn't argue, per say, though the distaste was evident in his voice. She'd figured out some time ago that Charlie had to have told Kalev about their- date. Obviously, Kalev didn't approve, rightfully so. That didn't make her like him much more.
He was still playing friendly though so she didn't rise to any offense. The amusement in his eyes licked her pride again and she had her eyes locked on his. She wasn't the sort to drink something she didn't understand but she wasn't feeling careful right now. Why would he save her life just to take it himself?
When he offered to drink it and get her something lighter she raised a brow. "Lighter?" a smirk came to her lips and she raised the glass and drank down the liquid. He was right about it being vile, but she supressed the shudder as the drink hit her stomach.
"Another?" she asked, almost challengingly. This... game was a better distraction than any she could have provided herself. And the liquor would help.
