"And do you think it was a picnic in the park for me?" he asked, trying to contain his own emotions. He didn't want to start yelling at her now. He couldn't afford to fight with her, because despite everything he cared about her, she was one of his best friends and she was in his heart and head in so many ways. But he was still angry with her for not staying. He knew they could've protected her mother, somehow the entirety of the DA had managed to hide in Hogwarts for months on end, therefore they could have done something.
But there was no way in hell they could have known that at the time. No one could have known what awaited anyone at Hogwarts, and the hiding didn't even happen until what was supposed to be their seventh year. Madness, chaos, grief, loss. So many things and she hadn't been there with him. God how he wished she would have been there, he'd needed her then, he needed her now. But she had been with her mum and he couldn't blame her for not wanting to leave her. It was just..hard.
"You haven't lost me Lisa. You could never ever lose me," he replied, his voice barely a whisper. "But, I couldn't go with you. You have to understand that. I-I owed Hogwarts, Dumbledore, and more importantly Harry and the DA more than running. I had to stay and fight with everyone else. It was...it was something we had to do. All of us. For everything. Harry taught us how to fight and we all knew that it was because of the war," he said quietly, wondering how Lisa would react to this new piece of information, that he'd joined the DA with Micheal was something he'd never shared with her. But now that the war was over, and Umbridge was gone he could. It wasn't a sacred secret anymore.
