Kat was, perhaps, a little more transparent at times than she suspected she was. However, she wasn't nervous enough or frightened, and so her mental protector didn't feel the need to step forward and interrupt things.
Kat doesn't want to be pitied. To her, it was her choice to leave her mother's, though at the time it hadn't felt like a choice at all. She was willing to work hard and she managed to get by. It was honest work.
"Well, it might be silly, but Hogwarts, A History, hasn't been updated in the last century or more. The Voldemort Wars and everything. I'd like to do something like that. Get accounts from people on both sides. Try to write an honest history, if there's such a thing."
As she talked, her hands gestured. She loved history, and she liked talking to people -- even if she hadn't been that fond of Binns in school.
