"Well, you're columns are good, so I'm sure it's only a matter of time before you get a break," Mandy told her with a small smile. "Do you work with the Prophet, too?"
Mandy resisted the urge to roll her eyes. "I paint because I love to paint, but many times I feel like people get portraits done for the wrong reasons. I hope, though, that your experience wasn't too dreadfull."
There was a look in Kat's eyes that made Mandy wonder, but she brushed it off. It wasn't her place to look into stranger's potential issues. She had enough issues of her own, she didn't need to start analyzing other's as well.
"There actually aren't too many portraitists anymore. Most of them are," she paused, "rather old." It was an understatement. She was the only portraitist under the age of 85. "I certainly hope so, but I'm not going to worry about it too much. I never want it to become so burdensome that it looses it's artistic appeal, if that makes sense?"
