Summary: Hermione and Penelope finally meet up after a long time
Hermione looked up at the clock as its chimes reminded her of the rapidly diminishing day. While she was buried in a book, she had gotten completely into a zone, tuning out everything around her. She looked over at Crookshanks sunning himself by the window and laughed at the bored look on his face. She stood in front of the mirror, examining herself. She ran her fingers through her hair and touched up her light make-up. Her outfit was typical Hermione with just a hint of cool. Checking her watch, Hermione figured she should probably be on her way. She picked up her purse and wand and gave Crookshanks a parting pat, locking the door behind her.
On her way to the Leaky Cauldron, Hermione got lost in thought. It was so strange to be on her own so much these days. Back in the day she, Ron, and Harry had been inseparable. She had always been with one, if not both, of them. A sad smile crossed her face. She hadn't heard from Ron in months and Harry seemed to be involved in his work. It had been so long since she had been on her own that it was a bit disturbing to be forced to confront her growing loneliness. At least her upcoming lunch with Penelope would help cure part of that. She grinned, looking forward to seeing her friend. It had been far too long since they last caught up with each other.
Hermione reached the Leaky Cauldron a bit early and hung out in the entryway. She felt a bit nervous, strangely, feeling somewhat shy. She couldn't figure it out, chalking it up to her recent issues and not having seen Penny in forever. Merlin knew she needed a friend these days, and it would be a welcome relief to talk to someone other than her parents or Crookshanks. She waited patiently for her friend, gazing around the room as she waited.
