Summary: Theo takes Amalthea out to dinner, where they run into Miles. Unfortunately.
Theo had promised, a couple of weeks ago, to take Amalthea out to dinner. His sister was growing up so nicely, with every mark of a lady. He knew he would be hexing boys away very soon, and in some ways he looked forward to the day. Since he was quite the believer in letting her practice her social graces, they’d decided – in a very weird parental kind of way – to leave Peter with a nanny so he could fulfill his promise.
As her brother, it was his job to take care of her and to help cultivate these talents, though he does suspect that if Sorting is still going on in the fall, she’ll be in Ravenclaw instead of Slytherin. She’s much too clever for her own good sometimes.
“Are you ready, Teddy?” she asked after knocking on his door.
“I’m coming, Amy,” he replied. He only used her nickname at home; out and about he treated her like the lady he wanted others to treat her as. After all, she is the only untainted Nott old enough to earn that respect, though that registration law might hurt her.
He made certain her robes were appropriate for the casual eatery – she had the unnerving habit of a teenager lately in trying to push her limits, gods, he was not old enough to be taking on the role of father – and they departed for a trendy wizarding eatery.
They arrived and Amalthea relapsed into girlishness by clapping her hands (quietly) and grinning broadly. “It’s very nice,” she said, though, obviously controlling herself enough to not gush. It wasn’t fancy, rather casual, but he rather liked it and thought it appropriate enough.
And everything would have been fine, he thought, if a certain someone wasn’t also eating at the same place at the same time.
