My mother loved to watch the Shopping Channel. I used to watch it with her. I usually made fun of the things they were selling and how quickly they sold out. My mom said there was an experience in watching and in being a part of something like that.
Last night I had the Shopping Channel and they were selling Psy Blockers. There was a "legit" doctor talking about how these are prpven to block those with abilities from using their abilities. There were jokes about no more having spouses reading your thoughts! No more influencing of emotions from your crabby neighbor! I watched the product fly off the screen. They sold out within a half hour and I can't help but ask: how stupid are people?
We barely have the science to explain what happened to us. We can't explain why some people have some abilities and others don't. We can't explain how it even works; if it is on a mental capacity and we have opened up a new part of our brain or if it is truly a physical mutation. But somehow, someway, you guys have done all this research and experimentation and you know for certain this blocks abilities you can't even explain? Yes. Let me throw my hard-earned cash at you.
What's worse is that no one is going to think twice about this. At worse they will believe it and buy it and at least, they will think it's bullshit and ignore it. No one will think of what it's really saying: you need protection from those different from you. Isn't that our biggest problem? We need to stop being afraid of what is different on the surface.
