Patrick hadn't been in the function room for two minutes before he had a drink in his hand. He kept it to a simple beer however, since pacing himself was the key here.
He sipped at it as Moira chatted with her co-workers, occasionally offering a comment or two himself. It wasn't until a rather attractive man in a very expensive suit swanned over to join them that Patrick really started paying attention. The man introduced himself as Jacob and he gave Moira a very theatrical kiss which made Patrick chuckle.
"Have you seen John yet?" Jacob asked Moira, who shook her head. "He's around here somewhere-" Jacob seemed to scan the crowd and then he clapped once. "Aha, there he is! Come, come, both of you. I abandoned him a while ago."
Patrick followed along his arm around Moira's. "That's Jacob Graves," Moira said under her breath. "He's really quite wonderful. He teaches several classes on European mythology which is fascinating."
"You are talking about me behind my back," Jacob said with a grin as they reached John's side. "Hello, old chum. Sorry I deserted you." And because Jacob was nothing if not a little daring when he was tipsy, he kissed John's cheek. That'd help those rumours. "I brought you a Moira and- Sorry, I didn't catch your name?"
"Patrick," he supplied from behind his glass. "Hello."
