WHO: Amita Haham & June Rogers WHEN: Monday, August 6 WHERE: Fall City Cemetery SUMMARY: Amita Haham, in the Cemetery, with the Fake Flower WARNINGS:MURDER MOST FOUL.
After a very confusing set of messages on the network from the bookshop owner, June stepped through the gate of the Fall City Cemetery, ready for anything, and with backup on standby.
That evening, the cemetery seemed to be deserted. By the smell, June had just missed a group of teenagers. She frowned and took a few steps deeper in.
Amita Haham was waiting for her near one of the large overgrown trees that had probably been there since the beginning of the cemetery. She still couldn't quite believe she'd managed to get June out to the cemetery. But she had, and so Amita had arrived prepared with what looked like a bouquet for a graveside, but was in reality a murder weapon. She knew that she wouldn't keep June's interest very long, so she would need to move fast. She offered a quick smile at the detective as she quickly stepped forward.
“What’s this about?” June asked.
"I'm so very glad you could make it out here," Amita offered, as a bit of a time waster as she closed the distance between them. "It's just this stone right here. You'll notice on this other side," the one opposite from June. "I feel as if someone's been doing some vandalism."
“Vandalism?” June didn’t understand why Amita hadn’t just said that on the network. She approached. Slowly. Something about this whole situation just wasn’t right.
June looked at the stone. It did look vandalized. Not that there would be much June could do unless Amita had witnessed who vandalized it. She leaned in to see if there was any way to determine how long ago the vandalization must have occured...
The stone was vandalized, possibly teenagers, but that had been something Amita had discovered after arriving, and hadn't been the reason she'd called June out here. Amita didn't hesitate to act on the reason that she had gotten her out here.
The whole bouquet of flowers was pushed into June's shoulder. When she felt the flowers, instinctively, June turned and whipped them out of Amita’s hands and to the ground.
June was looking at a pile of fake flowers. Nothing in them. Just fake flowers. “What the...”
"There's also the case of murder," Amita said smugly. "One assassin hit down."
It took June a second to figure out what Amita was talking about. But then she remembered that game someone had posted about. The murder simulation.
“This town is so weird,” June said, before she turned and headed back to her car. June had a real killer to catch.
