Narissa was relatively certain that Adrian needed her, even if he didn't want to admit it or talk or anything. With everything that happened, she was still his sister and she loved him. After classes were done for the day she headed to where he would be getting out and waited, offering him a smile when she saw him coming out.
“Hey,” she waved slightly, looking him over. He seemed to be doing better and that was good. He wasn't perfect yet but he would get there. At least close enough. For now though she just had to keep an eye subtly to be sure he wasn't over-exerting himself. “It's snowing. Still.”
Adrian was feeling unsettled about his encounter with Jackson. It had been what he'd wanted, but he couldn't help wondering if it was all just some colossal disaster. Could they really go back to just friends? Jackson had been so fixated… It didn't seem realistic that he could just… let it all go.
Adrian was glad at least to see his sister. "Do you want to go play in it before dinner?" he teased her a little. Snow was a kind of water, and his sister was a water sprite.
Narissa grinned at her brother’s suggestion. “I do. Also want my big brother to go for a walk with me.” Because that would be nice. Having time with him was important to her. “We can grab scarves and coats and all, if you want to?” Because the cold would not be amazing for his lungs, and she could add some charms to make it a bit easier on him as well if it was needed.
Adrian nodded. His sister was probably right, their school robes weren't really warm enough if they were going to go for an actual walk and not just cross the courtyard. "It is probably not going to be that much of a walk, but we can see how much we manage." He agreed. He was the limitation, never his sister. "Coats are probably a good idea." It was in part one of his roles - to make sure Nari was at least properly bundled up.
Narissa nodded. “I'm still small. It won't be too far.” Because even if she could go pretty far from the castle given the opportunity, she would limit herself and possibly feign distractions to slow her normal frenetic pace for him. She began to head toward their common rooms so they could get coats and scarves, making sure he was well bundled before they headed out. She didn't mind the cold, but she still wrapped a slightly warmer coat around her and a scarf too.
Adrian wrapped the scarf around his face before they moved out into the cold. He wrapped his arm around his sister too, wanting to be close. "Your classes went well?" Adrian asked.
“Animals today. So better than some days and worse than others.” Most creatures seemed to like her, so it made her life easier with regard to that class at least. “How about yours?” Her eyes moved to him as he wrapped his arm around her, snuggling slightly into the contact. Physical contact was always really nice.
"Charms and then Runes." Adrian replied. Charms, with Jackson. Their first time really seeing each other since Adrian got out of the infirmary… and the breakup. Adrian expected his intuitive sister would put together his class schedule with Jackson's schedule and know the significance of what Adrian wasn't saying.
Narissa didn't look up at her brother. She really didn't have to. She knew him well enough to know what classes he had with his now-ex boyfriend. She wrapped her arm around him in return and rested her head on his arm for a second. “How are you?” Because he could avoid if he didn't want to talk, or tell her something if he did.
"He caught me after class… apologized." Adrian's tone made clear he was baffled by that. Jackson had nothing to apologize for. It just.. .didn't work out. "Says he can be friends… but that's not what his writing said this weekend." Adrian admitted. He had been reading the journals - Jackson's writing on his and other journals too.
“Distance. He calmed down.” Narissa took things simply in general. It was just how she was and how she had always been. “Try it. You don't want to lose him and I can't imagine he wants to give you up either.” Because to her, Adrian was incredibly valuable and so she could not imagine people not wanting him around.
Adrian nodded. He wanted Narissa to be right. He wanted… Adrian didn't know. "We are… it's just… hard." Hard to remember what it was to not be attracted to Jackson sexually. And how it was they were with each other before Jackson had made Adrian too important.
Narissa sighed, going quiet for a few moments to think of how to phrase her thoughts. She sighed again before speaking, her voice thoughtful. “I know that you think… You're doing what is right by Jackson, but I don't think you are being fair to him. Isn't it his choice too?” Because that was something that had been prodding at her. “You're treating him sort of like a child. Like, this is bad for you so you can't have it even if you want to.”
"It is not that simple, Sissy. Everything since we started was his choice…" And Jackson hadn't been willing to listen to anything Adrian tried to say, because Jackson thought he knew better than Adrian too. "It wasn't right." Even his sister… but she was a romantic. "You do it sometimes too… not really listen because it doesn't match what you want."
“Adrian…” A small frown as she considered. “Have you ever thought that maybe we think you deserve something more?” Because that was the case in some ways, she knew. She wanted her brother happy. She didn't want him just living, but thriving. “Talk to him now. I'm sure he thought he was just trying to be the man you deserve. I know I'm the same way with Vi. I want to be the woman she should have, you know? Not just… Me.” And given the fact that her brother’s friend was a romantic too, it might be a similar mindset.
"You are amazing." Adrian pointed out. "You don't need to be anything but you." And Adrian just wanted… it didn't matter what he wanted obviously. "He shouldn't be changing to be what he thinks is right for me either… That means neither of us is right for each other. If change is necessary… And we were good friends… we accepted each other as we were." It would be better if they could go back to that, when things were right between them. "It wasn't working… dating." The acceptance wasn't there anymore.
“You're my brother. You have to say that.” Narissa offered a small smile. She loved Adrian but at the same time she thought this was unwise. “I think… You and he still should talk things out. Because I think if you have the right way about it you could both be happy together.” It would take work, yes. But it might be worth it. “He cares about you. He thinks you deserve someone better than him. Remember, he has a bit of self doubt too.”
"And everyone who meets you feels the same way," Adrian pointed out. She after all was good with people. "And there's no point in talking, Sissy. He doesn't listen anymore… And you don't have to tell me about his doubts, Sissy but we were fine as friends. It's not… worth dragging this all out longer than it needs to go on. I care about him too much for that…
Narissa looked at her brother sadly and sighed. There wasn't much sense in continuing the conversation. Adrian would do what he wanted, just like she would. If he thought this was right, he would pursue it until he realized he was wrong and even possibly longer. Her arm wrapped more tightly around him but she remained quiet, settling into her own thoughts.
It was just as well. Adrian couldn't keep talking and walking the way they were. He was healed but it had been days only. It wasn't enough that he could talk and breath in the cold for long.
