Q had worked closely enough with Abeni to not be offended when she hadn't shown up, even though he had taken the time to prepare the documents as requested for her and had been rather proud of the notes he marked. They were incomplete, a week's worth of casual observation not enough time to properly scope a building of that size and all its grounds, not while having to teach classes and not arouse suspicion. He had to use the whole new and lost excuse a couple times already when questioned.
It was no matter, if he hadn't set plenty of magical alarms for himself, he'd have missed almost every one of his classes the last week. Q prided his own punctuality despite his own habit of losing track of time, but understood enough of how Abeni worked to not fault her too much for it. It wasn't until she missed dinner too that he excused himself from the meal a bit early, grabbing a small plate of that night's offerings to bring her. When she got too focused in her work, she tended to forget those sorts of things.
Q rapped at her office door three times before entering, eyebrows raised. "Love what you've done with the place," he commented sincerely. "This your excuse for standing me up?"
