Narissa was going to tease him mercilessly, but Adrian was willing to put up with it. It was after all her right as his sister. And he needed that; he needed her, especially when he knew the attention that would be on him the next weekend and on his parentage. He needed to be Narissa's brother still. He wished their parents could come too. He hadn't seen them since it all came out.
Narissa had cookies. Plenty of freshly baked ones from the kitchen that she carried in her ubiquitous backpack, and she hurried out to Adrian, smiling when she saw him waiting for her. She headed to his side and bent to hug him, the smile remaining on her face. “How are you doing? Nervous? Excited?”
"And tired… we already had a practice today, and my plan is to spend the rest of the light running drills," Adrian admitted. It was also the neutral answer, not specifically going into his feelings beyond the immediate, the physical feelings he was experiencing. "What about you?"
“Don't wear yourself out before the game.” Narissa’s eyes moved to meet his and she pulled out the snacks, concern clear on her face. “You're amazing and everyone knows it. You'll be great. I know you will.” She handed him a cookie and took one for herself before settling entirely. “I'm doing pretty well, mostly. Trying to stay focused on class.”
"Only one class?" Adrian teased his sister. Her reassurance was nice and accepted, though he was careful too. He knew he wasn't necessarily going to be great; that was his sister's lovingly biased opinion.
“One at a time. You know how it is.” Because she had to make sure her focus was better directed to ensure that she picked up the material. She hugged him and smiled brightly, enjoying the fact that they had time together. “You want me to do some working out with you?”
"You threatened me with running for eating cookies with you. It's a relief that you didn't suggest other ways I could work out," Adrian admitted, especially given what she had apparently overheard the previous weekend. He'd been too occupied with Jackson, although he had thought he'd seen his sister with her roommate and other friends and had danced with her a little.
“I could, but it wouldn't be with me.” A wicked smirk and she brushed back her hair before she grabbed another cookie. “We can run for a bit, do some flying drills, and then I'll send you back to your boyfriend for a bit of a cool down.” It was obvious she was still teasing him, but she knew that he didn't mind so much.
"You used to go to teasing me about sex first. What does that mean about my relationship? Or your mind?" Adrian pointed out with a cookie. "You can't feed me this all week… it is important to be in top form."
“Distracted. Attempting to court someone.” Narissa shrugged one shoulder a bit. “Plus I'm doing my best to keep my thoughts on passing my classes lately.” Another struggle, but she would get by. Not as well or easily as he did but she would manage. “And I know. After today you get healthy things only.”
"Courting? You are my sister, right?" It struck him that her very words indicated a gender reversal between the siblings. His sister was courting apparently, and there was no question Adrian was being courted by Jackson, at least at the moment. "Remember, we don't have all the same classes, but some we share." He could help her study in those classes at least.
“Yeah, still your sister.” Narissa shrugged faintly and looked away, laughing at herself a bit. “Violet. She's different.” And in some odd ways a lot like her brother, though she didn't think of that. “You've been busy though. I didn't want to bother you just because I still can't do transfiguration right…”
"You are most important," Adrian argued. "More important than sex. More important than Quidditch." He was firm in that. "Let me help you, Sissy?" He needed something that wasn't all him. He didn't like all the attention he'd been getting lately, even if some of it, like the scouts, he was bringing on himself.
“Not more important than your future.” Narissa narrowed her eyes slightly at him. “You can help me with my work for this week. It's not making any sense to me and I've been trying for hours to get it.” She sighed and shook her head. “I'm never going to get into Mungo’s training without you here to help me next year…”
"More important than Quidditch," he repeated. "And you passed your OWLs all on your own." She was clever in different ways than he was. "You are good with people, Sissy." He wanted her to be able to do what she wanted with her life and to be happy.
“With you tutoring me. Good with people doesn't make me clever like you are.” Narissa shrugged one shoulder again and took another bite from her cookie, pointing it at him thoughtfully after. “I got the social gifts and you got the school smarts. It just doesn't help with wanting to be a healer, that's all.”
"You are good enough with people though that you'll be able to find someone else to help you next year… and you don't get rid of me that easily even if I'm not here. You've gotten this far." He was more curious about her courting Violet. "Such as Violet…"
“Not as good as you.” A small smile and she hugged him. “Violet is great though. We've always been close and I just…” A shrug. “I think more would be nice with her. I like her a lot.”
"Well of course not, you're my sister." Adrian was confident about that. "And she is… I hope it works out. although Mom and Dad will be amused that both of their kids fell for their friends, and went for the gay route."
Narissa giggled at his words and looked over at him. “Are you aware of what you just said? My big brother’s in looooooove!” She dragged out the word, giggling at the end and hugging him tightly again. “I'm so glad for you, you know. As long as he makes you happy… Though you know it he hurts you I'll be paring off some fingers…”
Adrian pushed her shoulder to knock her over. "He's my best friend… of course we love each other." Adrian didn't think beyond that, although he knew he had been the one to initiate their first time. As for hurting him, "He's not the one who is bad with people." Who was unwanted. "So it won't be his fault," when it inevitably ended.
“Different love, Adi.” Narissa shook her head teasingly and rolled her eyes. “And again I say, if he hurts you I'll take his fingers.” Because even if it was technically Adrian’s fault eventually if things ended, if her brother was hurt she would exact revenge.
"Maybe." There was no question in Adrian's mind that it would end. He would just have to make sure Narissa thought it was all Adrian's doing when it happened. "Okay Sissy… you think you can out run me?"
Narissa smirked at him and bounced to her feet. “It's not think. It's know.” Obviously a taunt- she was fast but he was taller and so he had a bit of an advantage on her with that. She left her bag, figuring it was safe, and took the few moments of him getting up to start sprinting toward the pitch, laughing as she went.
