Molly was almost not surprised when Gabe passed out on the bed. He hadn't been sleeping, she knew that, and while it was a little bit embarrassing to her to have him totally go lights out while she was stripping for him, she wasn't as offended as she might have been in other cases. She transfigured her panties and bra into a cami and boy shorts, a bit more comfortable for sleeping, and crawled into the bed with him. If he needed her for something later she could be there, and it wasn't like they hadn't slept in the same bed in the past. Plus, she wasn't sure if anyone would be down in the common yet and she wanted to avoid that.
Whatever he'd taken with the alcohol had turned on him - or maybe the alcohol had just caught up with him. Regardless his head spun wildly on him once he'd stretched out on his bed, and then the shadow closed around him. He woke up a start, sitting bolt upright in the bed, breathing hard, as if he'd been running. He wasn't surprised at the raven sitting at the foot of his bed staring at him. He was surprised by the female figure in his bed beside him. Gabe ran his hand through his hair and tried to calm down, hoping he hadn't woken… whoever it was he'd taken to bed. His memory wasn't entirely clear on how he got to bed.
Molly had dozed off, but the sudden movement was enough to bring her back to full awareness. The fact that Gabe was clearly distressed, from his breathing and the fact that he had bolted up as he did? It concerned her. She knew he had been having dreams and she had hoped he'd had enough alcohol to let him sleep. Apparently though he hadn't and she shifted against him, her fingers moving to brush back his hair from his face, gently trying to soothe him.
Molly. Gabe wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing, once he realized who it was. "Sorry," he murmured, glancing back at the raven, before looking back at her. What had they done? He honestly couldn't remember. That disturbed him a little. And the dream wasn't clear either. If he was in a better state, he might be able to work out one or the other, but together it was too much for him to work out.
“There's nothing to be sorry about. You needed to rest.” Molly’s voice was soft, much like she would use back home comforting an upset child. Her fingers stroked over his hair again lightly and she moved her body to half-hug him, shifting so he could rest against her. “You had a lot to drink. You had a dream.” She was narrating his night, yes, but hoping that it would give him some clarity.
"I'm still drunk," he admitted. "What did we do?" Gabe asked, black eyes searching her for the truth, and being honest about the holes in his memory. He knew he'd had a nightmare and that he'd been well drunk. Gabe didn't really care about those details. If Death thought the nightmare was important, Gabe knew he'd have it again. And he was often drunk. "Took some pills too."
“I'm not surprised.” Molly offered, shrugging and continuing to lightly stroke his hair. “We didn't do anything. You passed out as soon as you were laying down. I...didn't want to leave you.” Another shrug and she half-smiled at him. “You need to rest. You haven't been. I'll stay here with you.” So that if he had another nightmare he wouldn't be alone, even if she couldn't make them go away - though part of her wondered if she could just take them for the night. It would be something to try, she guessed.
Gabe ran his hand through his hair. "Thanks?" He was a little surprised by her admission. "You didn't have to stay." He certainly hadn't expected it. And he expected whatever mood they'd been in was long past. He certainly wasn't feeling in the mood to mess around at the moment. "I'm sure you aren't sleeping well here." Particularly not if he was waking up with nightmares - and waking her up. "It can't be that much fun watching me sleep it off."
Molly looked him over and shrugged slightly. “You're my friend. It's not a big deal, and I dozed for a bit too.” Because she had even if it hadn't been very long and she had the feeling she would have the same sort of sleep for the rest of the night if she stayed. Her fingers traced through his hair and she shifted again a tiny bit. “Try to sleep again. I'm not worried about waking up.”
"Dozing isn't sleeping." Gabe pointed out. He was used to getting through with less than ideal sleep conditions, but didn't want to be the reason others didn't sleep. "I'll be fine. I am fine… Heart rate is already back to normal. I should probably get out of my costume though." Since he'd passed out having done no more than taking off his boots obviously.
Molly flickered her eyes over his, testing the sincerity of his words. She didn't think he was okay, but she knew if she really wanted she could change that fact. She grabbed her wand and summoned some pajama pants for him, moving a bit so he could change. “I'll sleep, don't worry about it. Just concerned. Change and lie down.” And she would sit up and see what she could do about making sure he was rested, at least for one night.
Gabe was sincere, or at least accepted his lack of sleep as a given. He didn't like that she was concerned about him. "This is my life," he said with a shrug. "This week tends to be on the tougher end, but All Saint's Day will be a chance to catch up on sleep again before classes start up again." He wasn't used to having to explain himself this much. He just… lived.
“I know, and Harry’s taught me all about the veil and how it's thinner this time of year.” Molly shrugged and leaned against his nightstand slightly. “I'll go when you are back asleep. Just to make sure you do.” Not technically true. She would not go instantly- or even soon. Probably while he was asleep though, so it wasn't exactly a lie. “Do you need anything? Water? Your flask?”
"Yea, that." Gabe agreed. That was a good enough description of it. He didn't think about the veil as much since he interacted with Death itself. He let his clothes drop onto the floor not bothering to put anything away. He shook his head at her questions as to what he needed. "Probably still drunk enough." He looked around his bed. He saw no ravens, just the usual shadows. It was reassuring at least, after a fashion.
Molly nodded, seating herself back on the edge of the bed and stroking over his hair softly, brushing it back from his face. It wasn't a seductive touch, just gentle and hopefully soothing in whatever way she could grant. The real soothing, she hoped at least, would come when he got to sleep and she watched to be sure he stayed that way.
"I'm not going to sleep if you're sitting there watching me," Gabe pointed out. He was drunk but not that drunk. "EIther go and trust I'm sleeping or get in bed with me," he challenged her. In between didn't work for him. He tended to be all-in.
“Okay.” A faint shrug and she stretched her body alongside his, resting against him. It was comfortable enough, given that the beds were a good size even though they were meant for one, and she closed her eyes as she settled. She wouldn't sleep, but she could at least give him the impression she planned to.
Gabe was not about to kick her out of his bed, though he wasn't entirely sure this was a good idea. He didn't know if the one nightmare would be the only one tonight or not and didn't want to disrupt her sleep. He was fine telling people he had nightmares, but it was awkward revealing their immediate effect on him.
If she could have any say, at least for tonight he would not have any more. It wouldn't allow her to sleep and she knew it, but one day of not wasn't that bad and she could dose up on coffee and make up for it before classes started up again. Her fingers continued to stroke his hair lightly, her body settling against his.
Gabe was aware of the flock of crows squawking at him since he slept. And an ill-tempered raven. He expected to see the raven glaring at him when he opened his eyes, but it was just blonde hair. Right. Carpenter insisted on staying the night. Gabe ran his hand through his hair, pushing hers aside.
Molly's eyes came back open as she felt movement and she pushed her hair back. She had no need to ask if he slept. She knew the answer to that. “I'm going to head back to my room now.” Because he had rested and didn't really have much need of her staying longer at this point, and she could nap for a bit before lunch.
"No morning sex?" Gabe asked, more than a little bemused. She had insisted on staying with him, and now… was just going? Obviously he hadn't woken her again, although he wasn't feeling all that rested so he hadn't slept well. "No need to ask if you slept obviously." She clearly hadn't slept much either.
A faint smirk and she teasingly kissed him, rolling her eyes. “I don't know. Must not be something you want that much, if you fell asleep in the middle of me stripping for you.” It was obvious she was joking as she looked at him, again running her fingers through her hair.
"Drunk and high." Gabe pointed out as justification. "And quite frankly not sure what the pills were." Nevermind the days of poor sleep leading up to the holiday. "Better I passed out before anything and not in the middle of it?"
“I'm joking, Gabe.” Molly shook her head at him and glanced around. Most of his roommates were still asleep, or gone. She assumed it had to do with the night before and some hadn't made it back to their own beds. “If you want to, I'm not saying no…”
It also wasn't much of a yes either. Gabe shook his head. "I won't keep you." She was strange. Insisting on staying, and leaving at the crack of dawn as soon as he woke again.
“You need to rest and eat something.” Because those two things were important after a night of drinking and other intoxicants. She sighed and shook her head, knowing she was again doing something wrong in relation to this, though she wasn't really sure what ‘right’ was. “I'm not very good at this. Probably better off having Sera or that Hufflepuff girl or whatever.”
She was telling him how to take care of himself, and now she was going on about Sera and Nari and not being good at… what? Sex? The fuck? "I didn't sleep well enough to make sense of this." Gabe admitted. It was not going to go well, whatever it was.
I know. Molly laughed softly and shook her head. “I'm probably not making much sense either way. It's early. Late. Something like that.” She brushed a kiss over his lips and smiled faintly. “Make sure you eat something. Try to rest some more. I'll see you later, okay?”
Gabe rubbed at his face absently. Okay, she was laughing at least. "You too," he offered. She was smiling and laughing at him a little at least. He wasn't going to make sense of her; he wasn't going to try.
