Re: Dance Floor: Tobias and Belle
Tobias watched the way she held her skirts and smiled, "I see that you've been 'properly trained' as well, as horrific as that term is. Belle I have to admit I rather find myself liking you more and more. A woman who holds herself to high esteem, as she should; who views herself as equal to her male counterparts, who wishes to overcome social barriers and standards to push herself forward. Yet, you seem to adapt well into the world, pulling off the 'class' that is unfairly expected and thrust upon women of your stature..."
Tobias shook his head, "You're a politician, even if you don't know it; you're capable of holding a belief while making it work within the parameters that try to hold you back, and find ways to work around it. I would hazard to guess, were I someone far better at Divination, that your tea leaves would suggest that at some point you will be a revolutionary in some aspect. You are French, maybe you have a bit of Joan of Arc's blood in you?"
He grinned, jesting just a bit before he returned to her answer and following question, "Business is the far greater way to create change. Money speaks louder than bigotry and inequality. Wealth gives you far more power, no matter creed, race, or gender. I have no doubt with your ambition, eye for detail, and fiery spirit that you can easily handle the dangerously dull and yet aggressive world of upper business management."
His smirk remained and then he shrugged, "Minister is sort of my most obvious goal, it takes up a great deal of my life and thoughts. My marks in school are all focused squarely on that final goal. I suppose the cliche thing would be to find a wife, have children, build a lasting legacy. But that's thrust upon us as well, isn't it? Women are meant to have children, Men are meant to have 'heirs'. It's all incredibly annoying, but I do have a passion for change and a drive for legacy, which is why Minister appeals to me. I think otherwise my goals would be to have someone to share that with, someone who can challenge my ideals, who can understand my ideals. Someone I can talk to about politics and disagree but not get angry with. Someone who I can also choose just not to talk politics to at all."
He sighed some and laughed, "I don't necessarily look for marriage of romance, but a marriage of ideals and beliefs and shared interests, that will come with romance and all that entails."
