Hunter had set his mind as to what he was going to say, to do, but if there was anything that could waver his commitment it was the sight of Fawn's beautiful, hazel eyes looking up at him. It felt as though his heart was stopped in his chest for a moment, and he had to pull in a breath to start it again.
"It was fine," he said, barely registering the question, other than to answer it properly.
"I was wondering if I could speak to you. That is, if perhaps we could take a walk?"
Even he could hear that his voice sounded stilted, as though he were speaking to a stranger, but it was only to mask the overwhelming emotion he was actually feeling. It threatened to overwhelm him, if he didn't maintain a wall.
