"It's part of the trade. When I end up doing what my dad does, it'll be a lot of that only I have to pretend that I want to talk to him," Ash said staring out to the picturesque sight of the Indonesian seaside. The blues and white beaches were a pleasant sight for the most part. But Ash also knew that even if they were here on vacation, his father was working somehow. Chances were he arranged for a few business meetings at nicer places here on the island to talk things out. Work was never done for Alder. But Ash was never particularly close to his father, so it wasn't that he wanted to spend time with the man. But more that Ash saw a glimpse of his own future in it.
He looked over his shoulder and nodded, "Thanks, Lyra." Ash didn't move so much as scoot over a bit to allow Lyra to take the seat next to him where she'd been lounging before. His gaze fixed on the ocean again. The push and pull of the tides leaving the sand stained a darker shade.
