James tensed at the presentation of the photo, afraid what it might reveal. He wasn't ready for it. But he was curious. Having it right in front of him, it was hard to say no. Swallowing roughly, he took the worn picture in his hand, aware that he was trembling lightly.
It was easier to look at Steve first, studying his smaller frame. The features were so similar, a quick glance back to the real thing confirmed. And he looked much healthier now. The arm wrapped around Steve was the one he was now missing, and the expression on Bucky's face hit him a lot harder than he anticipated. A real smile, not the fake one he'd been practicing in the mirror when trying to convince everyone that he was fine so they'd stop worrying over him.
For all the improvements made to Steve, he could clearly see the before and after proof of the damage done to himself.
"Yeah," he agreed hollowly, dropping the photo back in front of Steve as if he couldn't get it away from himself fast enough. "Definitely bigger."
