Who: R, Lia, and a boggart What: Boggart encounters Where: Random hallway When: Sunday, 9/27, afternoon after THIS post Warnings: Anxiety attack, blood, and R's fucked up self-worth
R and Lia had agreed to meet in one of the potions labs so if the teachers came by asking questions they could say that she was helping him with potions. Good excuse, and it was easy to hide what they were really doing.
He was making his way down and turned a corner, almost running in to someone. "Whoops, sorry, excuse me - oh, Angel!" He smiled as Enjolras turned around, and Enjolras smiled back.
"R!" he said. "I was just looking for you, I needed to talk to you about something important."
R was confused by nodded. "Of course, Angel, you know I'm always here for you."
Enjolras smiled again, and there was something off about it, but R discounted it as just...something. E reached up to cradle R's face in his hands and shook his head. "Oh, R. You poor boy. I know everything."
"Well you are an incredibly smart young man, but I wouldn't say everything, Angel." R chuckled, trying to ignore the sick feeling building in his stomach.
Enjolras shook his head. "You don't get it, do you? I shouldn't expect you to, you never have been a smart one. I know how you feel about me and, frankly, I'm disgusted." His hands dropped from R's face. "I wish you hadn't hid this from me. I could have discouraged this early on. How often have you thought of me with your hand down your pants? Do you really think I would dirty myself like that?" He shook his head again. "You really are horrible. I can't believe you thought I could love someone like you. I just wanted a simple friendship and you had to go and ruin it. I don't know how you can stand yourself sometimes."
"Angel, I - I'm sorry. I didn't mean - I - this is why I didn't want you to know - "
Enjolras scoffed. "You're so obvious about it. Everyone knows. I just couldn't stand the thought of you anymore. The fact that you kept this from me," Enjolras shivered. "I'm done with you now. You're not worth the headache. I'm going back to France tomorrow. I need to move on and away from this horrible time in my life. Every second I've spent with you has been a waste."
"Angel - Enjolras, I'm sorry, please - " R reached for him and Enjolras stepped away again, and began to morph. The form settled into the figure of his mother. She, too, was smiling at him but there was something off about it and R's stomach sank. He had no idea what was going on but he was feeling sick even before she spoke.
"My baby," she said in Arabic. "Look at you, you horrible boy, look at how disgusting you've become. Remember when you were a good little boy? Remember when you listened? What are you going to do right now? You are going to go let a little girl teach you how to do bad things to hurt people and you don't even care. It's not even going to work. You're so useless, you think you're going to protect someone? You can't even protect yourself. You will always need someone to take care of you because you are just so incompetent. Why are you wasting your time with this? Just fail your silly little school and come home to your father and I and live off of us forever. We always knew you would." She shook her head sadly. "You poor helpless boy. Just give up now. Nothing you do is worthwhile. Just a drunk who will never do anything."
"Mama - Mama please, you aren't - you're just as bad - "
"And why do you think that is?" she snapped. "Because I have to deal with you, I have to deal with knowing that my son is useless and disgusting. You will never be worthwhile. I wish you would just die. It would make things so much easier for your father and me."
R couldn't move, couldn't think, couldn't breathe. Everything felt too close and yet too far away, and the only thing he could focus on was his mother, even as she too began to morph and changed into some horrible creature, its many heads focusing in on R, their glowing eyes staring at him as it began to advance.
"You are worthless," it said in many voices. "You are useless. No matter what you do you will never be worth the air you waste." R's back hit the wall and he slid down it, tears leaking out of his eyes without him noticing, his lungs clutching up in his chest and his breath coming in hacking sobs. "Everyone would be better off without you."
R curled into a ball and covered his head, trying to block out the voices, but he could hear them even in his head, only there, his own voice joined in.
