Hunter leaned his cheek against the top of Fawn's head. He could smell the cleanliness of her hair, along with the sweet, natural scent of the water. Together the two of them seemed to float.
"You would be adorable no matter what you were," he said absent-mindedly.
In truth, Fawn being changed was still one of his worst nightmares. He thrived in the woods but even now he started each time he heard a branch snap. What if the monster who had bitten him returned and came after her? At least not he would have a chance to protect her properly.
"My Fawn... I think perhaps they are sweeter creatures you could be. A squirrel, perhaps? A bunny rabbit?"
