Marie kept the blankets pulled down as she studied the bruises. They probably did look a lot worse than they were and she trusted Roarke to be telling her the truth even if she knew he would say anything not to end up in the hospital wing.
“They better just be bruised, Roar,” Marie said, her tone serious, as she looked at his face. “If I find out that you lied to me just so you didn’t end up in the hospital wing I will neuter you. Got it?” She then let out a heavy sigh as she took the jar of salve from him. “I’ll cover it in a good thick layer of this stuff. The numbing agent should help with the pain and then we are going to wrap them up.” Marie herself had felt with busted ribs before and all you could do for them was wrap them up and rest.
