"The raven left," Gabe whispered, watching the darkness out the window. And then.. the sky lit up green. Gabe turned a slight shade of green at the symbol. He knew what it was - he didn't need to see the entire thing to know what it was - and what it meant. "They're here."
Molly saw the green and she too felt a bit ill, though she did not cease in petting him. It was almost comforting to her as well. Having him close wasn't ever a bad thing in her mind and she shifted slightly closer to him, a small frown on her face. "What should we do?" Her voice was soft as she looked at him, unsure what would be best for him.
Before Gabe could answer, the Headmaster's Voice commanded everyone to the nearest common room. It answered the question. They were to stay where they were. "I guess that answers that." He couldn't help but look around for the raven again, but now the shadows were in control. "We should turn up the lights… so anyone we get from the other houses feels comfortable here." And so he could try to hold the shadows he was seeing at bay.
Molly nodded and murmured spells to brighten up the room, her wand flicking at sconces to illuminate the whole room. She glanced over at him, her fingers resting on his arm lightly. It was bright enough that she was pretty sure the kids from other houses that were being shuffled in now would feel at least slightly more comfortable. "Is it okay for you?" She glanced over, noting that he was looking around and curled an arm around him. "There's not anything we can do, I don't think. We're following what we were told. You need anything?"
Gabe needed a lot at the moment, but none of it was really possible. "I need a smoke, but we're indoors." It was the easy thing to admit to. There was nothing that would really push away the shadows. "It will pass." He said, seeking to reassure her. The ritual of the action though was always soothing. He could vape, and probably would but he'd left his ecig in his room since he'd been smoking actual cigarettes this week.
"We can go to the dorms. I'll set up a filter or something so you can." Her voice was low, an attempt at soothing, though she appreciated too his attempt to do the same for her. "Come. We'll go to mine. Accio broom," she murmured and she handed it to him. "Quieter there too, I think."
Broom? Gabe took it, confused as to why he needed it. He was slow to follow her meaning. And then it finally clicked. Her room. He needed to get around the stairs. The slow processing of the thoughts was obvious - as was the final realization. He wasn't sure why her room, but given his roommates, he would likely hear it if he brought a girl up there - and hear it if he smoked in the room. Molly's roommates, ironically, were more likely to cut him some slack. "Okay." A simple reply was what he could manage.
Molly offered him the broom, starting to head up the stairs on her own, motioning him to follow. "Come." Because that was the best she could offer right now. She opened the door to her room and pointed to the bed that was hers- though the fact that there was a number of sci-fi things on her bed that would not be for most Slytherin girls. "Sit. Rest as best you can." And a flick of her wand created a small fan from a paper that would allow him to smoke in peace.
Gabe knew there would be no rest. He looked at her window, looking again for the raven, or other sign of potent. There was nothing but the soft green glow. "I suppose it's a good thing I'm touched by Death so obviously… or else folks might believe that whole Deatheater rumor that Scribbler rag was going on about me for."
"You'd make a shitty death eater." This said with a teasing smirk as she moved to his side, her fingers going back to stroke at his hair. "I don't think anyone believed any of it. Most of the things were just so ridiculous." She carefully guided him toward the bed to sit down, hoping he could at least get comfortable if nothing else.
