For all Steve knew, the people outside were attacking the castle because of him, or because of Bucky. Either way it filled him with a sense of guilt and terrifying responsibility. Only a week ago, he would have been prepared to step outside the castle's walls and give himself up, if it would mean saving the castle. Now though, now he had Bucky, and Steve was determined to survive.
Steve's eyes squeezed shut at the touch of Bucky's fingers against his lips. It wasn't a sex thing, although certainly being so close to Buck was challenging in that way. There was an intimacy about it. something that betrayed their past relationship, even if Bucky couldn't remember it. Steve wrapped his arms around the now smaller frame of his best friend and help him close. They would likely be there for most of the night, until the teachers decided they were safe, and Steve would hold Bucky all night if he had the chance.
