Wan shook his head, tone coming out more bitter than he'd intended as his focus was drawn back to the subject, "Yeah. That's what everyone keeps telling me."
As if repeating the same thing over and over again would help. It wasn't a matter of him knowing the words were true (he did) or not believing them (he did). It was a matter of the lie being one that could easily become true. He'd said he wouldn't ever do that, would never steal from anyone at the school, and it was true when he said it. But it was a truth that could change.
And it was not a topic he wanted to keep thinking or talking about.
"What spells did you use?" He shifted the conversation to what he'd actually come there for. It was an obvious topic change, he knew it was. He knew he was more agitated now than he should let himself be. But he didn't want to feel mad at his Professor. He preferred the kinder thoughts. They shouldn't be mucked up with frustration.
