Even at his size, getting his arms suddenly full of Gracie pushed the air out of Steve's lungs. It was as though it was a kind of muscle memory, held over from when he had no muscles to speak of.
"Ooof," he exhaled, quickly taking in a breath and laughing softly.
"I missed you too baby girl. I hope those are all happy tears though. I wouldn't like to think I've made you sad."
Steve wrapped his arms around Gracie, as if trying to relearn the way she felt next to him. He had a feeling that he would be doing the same with a lot of people, but none would be as important as his Gracie.
"I would have had you come visit me, but you shouldn't spend your summer hanging out in hospitals."
