“The blood is almost ready,” Bella said having watched the dragon hatch and then Derek reached out to it. Bella wasn’t sure that had been the smartest move but the dragon reacted like a cat, leaning into the touch, and not biting Derek. It made the teen excited and she couldn’t stop smiling.
When Derek came over, Bella moved away from the slowly warming up cauldron, and moved back to the makeshift nest and the rocking eggs. She had knelt down to get a closer look when a head popped out of the egg and the dragon made a squeaking noise. “Hello little one. Yes, you’re almost free. Come on. You can do it,” Bella encouraged the little dragon who was slow to break open its egg. Once free Bella did the same thing as Derek and reached out to it. The dragon seamed to sniff her finger before moving to press itself against her hand. “This is so amazing.”
