Hunter seemed to freeze, rooted to the ground as Fawn moved toward him. He wasn't sure what he was expecting, or so frightened of, but he audibly let go of his breath when he felt the touch of cloth against his chin.
"Neither have I," he admitted. Sleeping in the same bed had made him feel whole again, like when they were children. Well, not exactly when they were like children, but he obviously couldn't admit that to Fawn.
"I'm sure we'll find a way to..."
BOOM.
Even from as far away as they were, the sound from the fields seemed to shake the ground. Hunter couldn't remember ever hearing such loud fireworks before.
"Oh, it looks like they've set them off."
But after a few seconds there was nothing in the air. A second boom followed right behind it and still nothing.
"It's not like magical fireworks to misfire," he said, still watching the sky curiously.
