Peter's hand over hers just lightly caressed, more of an idle thing he hadn't realized he was doing. Eventually, hearing her talk, there was an odd moment of regret and whatever that was that suggested to him he didn't want her to really just wait, but he cleared his throat anyway and ignored that gut feeling. His hand curled against hers, holding it as he watched her.
"That's not fair to you, though, Sadie. There's plenty of handsome, wonderful guys at that school, and I'm sure 90% of them would kill to be with you. The other 10% likely being not 100% straight. You're pretty, smart, ambitious, and could have pick of the litter. Why wait for some dorky TA? Plus, what happens when you graduate and you want to move somewhere? Hmm? Waiting for me isn't necessary."
He found that he was looking back at her now though, and staring back into her eyes a bit, "It's not feasible now, and it may be unfair to you then. Don't make those sorts of plans. If it happens, great, but if not? Don't be waiting around for it. Not for me. I'm likely not going to be worth that wait."
