This wasn't the time to ponder that though as ash continued to guide her. He was braver than she expected and it reminded her that there was quite a bit more to than meets the eye.
Pausing, Lyra took a deep, slow breath and nodded. "Yeah. I... I can be ready." She knew she would have to be. There was little chance not to. Her father had taught Lyra how to defend herself in case of emergencies, so now was the time to do so. She slid her hand over the one he hand on her shoulder and gave a shadow of a smile. "I am ready. Let's go."
