December 22nd. December 24th and 25th. December 31st and January 1st had been days like any other day in the past. They came and went with the turning pages of the calendar. They had been days celebrated. A time those could have a break from every day life to just be with loved ones they had missed. It was never his intent to make anyone feel a certain way when they viewed his way of doing things this time of year, he had not said a word and was content that it would be the same as the last. Did he see it as a sad story to be verbally repeated? No. He hadn't thought about it all that much. Not until the recent and unexpected change in the winter winds when Easter had offhandedly offered to share those special dates with him instead of with his own kin.
Had there been a little ping of regret in his chest knowing that his pal had given up allotted time to be with Granddad? Perhaps there may have been. But it was outweighed by the fact that he was not going to be alone this time. Not for his seventeenth birthday, where he had received so many thoughtful gifts from those he had felt a sense of family from, more than what he had expected. Easter, Cam, Reiji and Sera had all been wonderful friends and somehow felt that this year was shaping up to be a lot less lonely than previous. Though, he may have felt a teensy-weensy bit amused at the fact that Easter had to duck under the entrance threshold to the small apartment. The narrow and seemingly unstable flight of wooden steps along the outside wall of Honeydukes had led to the place Jack had called home during the summer months when not at Hogwarts, holidays and weekends when the ol' girl requested his assistance. At least it was only a hope skip and a jump away, right?
It wasn't extravagant. It wasn't large, or even clean because hey, he and East were teenage boys after all and spending the Holidays cramped in a small space like this left no room for organisation skills. Cloths had been tossed in a pile that they had determined that some were dirty and were in serious need of washing. Jack didn't have a house elf, like some families. So chores had been left to when he had felt like doing them, as per usual. Not right now, though. There were far more important things that had been brewing tonight. With the few soiled dishes cleaned from the small kitchen table and into the near by sink. Just so that was clear for what they were using it for.
A miniature black iron cauldron on top of a burner where the attempted brew had been coming to a simmer. They had decided tonight was going to be the night Jackson was going to attempt sleep for a full eight hours - or more. With the help of Easter, they had managed to gather the ingredients needed to fix a potion that would help and in turn, a chance to finally meet the man East had spoke of so regularly of. Whom mentioned on a nightly biases that he wanted to meet Jack. But due to their distance, would prove to be a little difficult. He trusted his friend, though, and they had come to the conclusion that it was worth giving a shot to see what would happen. Yanno. Wingin' it.
"It smells disgusting...can we add some flavour to it please...I don't want to yack it up," hovering over the cauldron and inhaling just enough to hitch in his throat in a dramatic gag. "Oh man..."
