If Riley thought this vacation was going to be uneventful, he was wrong. Not only was Reiji's dad in the hospital, but his niece had been born...which left him awkwardly talking himself out of hospital visits or awkwardly sitting through hospital visits. At the moment, he was sitting through a hospital visit out in the waiting room while everyone was busy cooing at an alien-like baby. So he pulled out his journal before writing to his sister again.
I have no idea what to say to any of these people.
Haaave you tried...idk...just sitting quietly or making food?
I'm already sitting quietly...and what the fuck am I supposed to make? Sandwiches?
Don't use that tone with me. You're doing the awkward fidget and glance at people in the room thing you do, aren't you? And yes. That is an acceptable food thing.
...No.
Which means yes. Just because you're an emotional weirdo doesn't mean you have to be a weirdo at everyone because of your emotional issues.
Riley glanced around the room again, frowning slightly at the growing awkwardness that built up in his chest. There's a baby in that room right now. A BABY.
AW! A BABY! I mean...oh. Yes. A baby. What a horrible thing to be sitting in the next room. I can see why you are concerned.
Shut up.
Never!
Riley smiled despite all of the weirdness that was taking place. Fine fine. What do I do?
I told you what to do. Just...you know...be there. At least for Reiji. Especially if you like him. Oh...P.S. Don't fuck up. There's a whole Hufflepuff House that will beat you up if you do ;)
He shut the journal after that and slipped it into his bag before getting up to pace back and forth. He'd have to get out the nervous energy before he could be of any use to anyone at this point. He was also vaguely concerned about the threat of Hufflepuffs. It would probably end with glitter up his nose...and in his eyes...and maybe getting strangled or attacked by a group of peoples' pets. He'd really rather get punched.
He paused outside the door, watching as the baby got passed to Reiji. No one was paying attention to him, so he just watched quietly. At least everyone seemed a little happier now. No less tired, but a little happier. Maybe he'd see about getting food out...or something. Did they drink tea or coffee? He should have paid more attention.
Running fingers through his hair, Riley continued to move again. Maybe if he moved enough Reiji would eventually come out and he could ask. Then at least he wouldn't be so focused on how strange everything felt.
