DESTINATION #1
Avery was once a thriving community. Rail access made it the shipping and agricultural hub of the area. But the decline in farming conditions and the financial impact of the depression saw many farmers and related industry folk emigrate, and Avery has fallen upon hard times. Most of the work in Avery is now limited to the railroads and the WPA (public works). A reasonable portion of the town centre is shut up. There isn’t a lot to celebrate in Avery, but that doesn’t mean its people’s labours should go unrecognised this Labor Day! That’s why the Carnival is here a little early.. Arrival/Setup: Saturday August 31st/Sunday September 1st Pack Up/Departure: Sunday September 15th/Monday September 16th Dates of Interest:
Full Moon: Thursday, 12 September 1935, 09:18:12 pm Prohibition Status: Dry, with the exception of 3.2% beer. NOTE: There will be no plot this (little-over-a-)fortnight - it’s all about getting settled in, so take your time. The Carnival will be showing off its own sorry state to poor Avery, so it will be a bit of a quiet start (that won’t exempt anyone from doing work, however ;). |
