He was being so much more understanding than she thought he would be. She guessed that opinion was based on past experience. She'd done what she'd had to do to save her friend. She knew she'd been a real bitch to him, though. Caroline could be a real bitch to Klaus a lot. And she'd tricked him in the past, in order to help her friends in some way. She knew it wasn't right. Toying with someone's emotions was a pretty messed up thing to do. She acknowledged that. She knew she wasn't as good as Elena was, and she probably never would be. Caroline was used to coming second to Elena though, she had as long as she'd known her.
Klaus was being surprisingly helpful and reassuring, after everything. She listened to his words, really taking them in. He was forcing her to confront the issue, because he cared. And deep down, Caroline knew that. And if he could really help her to control it, maybe she didn't have to worry so much. She hadn't had centuries to be a vampire, though. She'd barely been a vampire for a year. If Stefan couldn't control it after so long, how could Caroline hope to? She nodded, looking at him for a long moment. "If you can help me to control it, I want to learn." He could stop her from killing someone easily if it came down to it, if he wanted to.
She didn't shrug him off. Under ordinary circumstances, she might have. Instead she shifted a little, so she could hug him. He was the first familiar face she had seen here, and that absolutely meant something to her. She felt a bit bad for always being so horrible to him. And she thought about the speech he'd given at graduation. She saw Klaus as much more than a monster, even if she didn't really let on about that. This was probably kind of awkward and she was sure he wasn't expecting it, but it felt so good right now.
