Who: Klaus and Caroline
Where: Carnival back lot
When: Sunset
What: Klaus is busy being Most Unamused with his current situation.
Warnings: None atm
Status: Open/Ongoing

Hands in his pockets, Klaus stood near where the tents were erected. Whatever brought him here... well, to say he was less than pleased would be the understatement of the year. If he was a more caring individual, Klaus might have felt a bit of guilt over how he had reacted directly upon his arrival. He hadn't hurt anyone - though even if he had, it would've had absolutely no bearing on his sympathy - so there was truly nothing to be bothered by. The man answered his questions and so it did the trick. Not that Klaus liked the answers, but killing someone straight out of the gate would be foolish and while Klaus was impulsive, foolish was never a word to ever be used to describe him. So he took what was offered him and chose to assess the situation. He had little doubt that the year was correct - the 1930s were different than modern times. The decade felt different; it smelt different. He had loved the 1920s. He had told Caroline once before; the women were fierce and sexy. The whole decade had been beautiful. The 1930s was hardly any different.

Though in retrospect, Klaus hadn't been touched by the Depression. Want, hunger, malnutrition, illness, unemployment - those things meant little to him back then. They meant little to him now. There were only a small handful of things Klaus wanted that he had yet to get his hands on. Something as trivial as the Great Depression had no impact on him. If anything, the rock-bottom state of America had only made his existence easier. This time around, however, he had a feeling it wouldn't be quite as carefree and easy. He was in a travelling carnival, after all, and they were nothing if not a cesspool. He appreciated a show or two in his day, but living here? It certainly ruffled more than a few of his feathers. Not to mention the fact he had been assigned a job, of all things. Sword-swallowing was nothing to think twice over - being immortal meant he had no need to practice or any sort of concern for his well-being - it was the simple fact he didn't want to do it that ruined things further.

If there was a saving grace to be had, it was the fact that Klaus didn't mind the clothing. Men's fashion from the 20s into the 40s didn't bother him. If he could pick a style to maintain, it would be something along the lines of the clothing of that period, anyway. His own tailored suits and vests in modern times hinted at that. So he was comfortable and right at home in the clothing they had given him - even if the threads were cheaper and less-tailored than he would have purchased himself. Klaus felt there was a little too much room in the shirt and trousers, much they fit him nonetheless. He supposed in a pinch, you couldn't always have everything tailored specifically to flatter yourself. Perhaps he could find a seamstress at some point. For now, he chose to stand back and observe. With his angry outburst behind him, Klaus was silent as he watched the other members of the carnival move about. While he was certain he could easily abandon this place and do just fine on his own - he had survived, no thrived, in the decade before - Klaus's curiosity was piqued and so he chose to stay for the time being. He wanted more answers.
