Clay was not the type that liked being cooped up. He just had to get out of the camp for a while. He left Elena a note in her tent to let her know she could join him if she liked. Once that was done he headed to the edge of the camp. He was ready for the run, but he would give Elena some time to show up first. He didn't want her running alone. Sure she could take care of herself, but she shouldn't have to. That was what he was for. Since she wasn't there yet he decided he would take a little break. He already had his shirt off, so he laid flat down in the grass looking up at the sky. Thoughts rushed through his head. He hadn't been able to shut his mind off since he had arrived here. Everything that had been going on back home...what could they do about it here? He felt so bad. He felt like he had abandoned them all and even though it wasn't really his fault he still blamed himself. He would do anything to change it, but he had no idea where to even start. He laid there for about half an hour before he started to drift in and out. He wasn't really sleepy, but the feeling of the cool ground beneath him and the strain on his mind just caused him to just pass out. He wasn't sure how long he laid there, but he did dream. Thoughts of home and Elena being here rushed through his head. Soon enough he found himself jerking awake, Elena's name on his lips. He quickly jumped to his feet, looking around like someone might actually be there after him. After several moments he was able to calm down because he realized no one was there. He took a few deep breaths and made his way over to a near by tree. He leaned back against and let out another sigh. He hoped Elena would get here soon. He had to see her for himself to make sure she was alright. He had decided he would give her ten more minutes and if she didn't show run or no run he was going to go find her. Just when he finished that thought Elena appeared in the clearing ahead, making her way to where he stood. He let out a sigh of relief, but quickly composed himself because he didn't want her knowing how worried he really was. |
