Ever since they had stopped again Elijah had been buzzing with thoughts of his family. Of course he had also been looking out for Hayley. He wasn't about to let anything happen to her. She was everything to him at this point. He hadn't ran into any of other family members here, and she was the only person he had really cared about in hundreds of years. He had tried to make things work with Katherine again, but he realized now that it had only been because he wanted to believe that old feeling was there when it really wasn't. Of course she had made his choice to end things really easy when she had showed her true colors once again. He knew there was a good person in there somewhere, but she had buried it so deep that it wouldn't ever show up again. He was surprised that thoughts of her had made their way into his head, but he pushed them aside again and then he stood up from where he was sitting in the tent. A walk would do him some good, because he couldn't seem to get these thoughts of the past out of his head. As he walked he looked over towards the woods and had to do a double take. The sight before him made him smile at first, but then a frown came to his lips and a tear even fell from one eye. The sight of the last Christmas he had spent in New Orleans with his siblings played before his eyes. Seeing Klaus actually happy for a change was heart breaking for Elijah, because he knew it was something he hadn't seen since. Of course he knew how hard his brother's life had been, and if he could do anything to go back and change things he would. When the scene before him finally ended he closed his eyes for a moment, shook it off and then kept walking. He thought for sure he was losing his mind. If he didn't know better he might had thought he had been bitten by his brother and he was having the usual hallucinations. He shook his head a little and tried to focus on something else....anything else. Just when he thought it had all passed he looked over again and there was another sight before him. This one was different though, because it certainly wasn't a memory. Elijah had a look of surprise on his face, but it was obviously that whatever the surprise was it was pleasant, because Elijah was also smiling from ear to ear. The sight before was obviously a Christmas to come, and suddenly Elijah felt like he was in the famous Dickens novel. In the vision Elijah was sitting in front of a Christmas tree with a little girl sitting on his lap. His brother and his sister were both out on the floor dancing with different people and a non-pregnant Hayley was sitting on the floor at his feet with her head resting on his knee. Eventually the vision faded and he was actually sad to see this one go. He shook his head, wondering if he had been having a day dream or if it really was something that would happen in the future. |
