Amy’s gaze snapped up to meet Derek’s when he said her name. If she could have smiled she would have. Instead she let out what sounded like a deep bark, deeper and louder than any noise she’d ever made as a human being, and nodded her head to indicate that he was right.
It was then that something occurred to her. The moon was getting lower. That was an indicator of an oncoming sunrise and Amy’s transformation back into a human being. She nudged at Derek a little with her paw, nodding to the horizon with her head. Amy couldn’t say goodbye, but he seemed intuitive. He’d figure it out eventually.
