Peter’s comment caught her attention, that was for sure. It was vague enough to leave her curious and not quite knowing exactly what he meant. Whatever it was, it was enough to give her a slight case of the creeps. Oh, Peter didn’t creep her out, but whatever it was he’d been talking about made the hairs on her neck stand on end.
“That’s not so bad.” She joked, still wincing in pain and fighting the urge to jerk her arm away. Henley stayed still, though, like a good little patient. She knew her only other option was to search out a medic, but if they knew the origins of the wound then she couldn’t be so sure about whether or not she’d get to keep her head.
Finally, Henley had some idea of what Peter had been hinting at earlier. Vampires. She caught herself staring openmouthed, but after all they’d been through at the carnival she didn’t doubt that he might have had experiences with vampires. Henley frowned a little.
“You and vampires, huh? How did that happen?” She paused for an answer, but soon realized that maybe she was asking too personal a question. “I mean, only if you want to answer. I don’t want to be a jerk by digging too deep.”
