Halloween had not been a tradition the Tam family had ever gone in for back home. Simon rather thought River would have found it entertaining. She certainly would have found his costume funny. He didn't quite see why pumpkins were associated with the holiday and he looked incredibly ridiculous dressed as one. He thought that the lanterns some of the costumed towns children carried were much more practical and most of them had laughed at him. Though so had Kaylee when she'd seen it - Simon didn't mind making her laugh though it only made him guilty about the conversation he was putting off having her. He found the work a bit more enjoyable that evening though giving out tickets to children in anything that even vaguely resembled a costume and ignoring the ones he was sure had already been round for a free ticket. He was sure Management wouldn't approve of that exactly but it was one night but what was the point of a holiday if children couldn't enjoy the Carnival. |
