It really was never hard to find Elena. It wasn't like she was hiding and even if she was, well, Jeremy was her brother. He'd always find her. He knew she was without her humanity and Jeremy just wanted to approach with caution and most times he'd work the nerve up, but then fall short. He knew she couldn't stay like this, but Jeremy believed that no matter what Elena was, human or vampire, with her humanity or without, it would always be the same, right? She'd still know. Maybe that was his mistake and as a hunter? It was a big mistake, but when it came down to it, that was his sister and he'd do anything for her. Mostly everything. Tonight was different though and he wasn't keeping his distance like he told himself to. As long as she was okay, that was what mattered and he was doing okay with Anna, but it just wasn't the same. None of it was the same because they weren't even home. This would never be home and even if they did go back, Elena burned down their memories. He saw that clearly from the other side, he saw what losing him did to her and it was just - gone. Damon did this to her, suggested, encouraged, it didn't matter how it was worded, Damon did this and maybe in the grand scheme of things, he did her a favor because then she didn't have to feel it. What was wrong with him? Jeremy remembered what was important, what mattered, but if his sister didn't have to suffer, was that really the better option? Maybe. Everything was so confusing and nothing was like it used to be. He just went with it. For now. Because Jeremy was alive, would she change? Would she let everything and everyone back in? He didn't know and he didn't think he was fully prepared for this, to see this side of her, but the distance was killing him even if it wasn't her. She didn't care one way or the other. But he wouldn't give up, family didn't do that even if it appeared that they had. "Hey, Elena." He stepped away from the wall that was currently holding him up as she walked out of a vending tent, heading to wherever she headed to. He smiled as she stared at him curiously and he just shook his head. "I know." |
