"I was really just assisting you," Simon assured her - though he had spent plenty of time in the Engine room even when they weren't working. But when Kaylee voices how much she is missing the ship - even if that isn't what she actually said he's not that oblivious because she's been here for a month and it only gets stranger - because the last thing she remembers is Beaumonde. He's fairly sure he'd remember if Kaylee had vanished around then and he swallows. This is too strange and if he wasn't here experiencing it he's not sure he could have believed it. Not that he wants to upset Kaylee with his disbelief. If she came from a different point in there mutual time line, well Kaylee had not been pleased they'd been leaving on Beaumonde and now he'd shown up and acted on a relationship she had no idea they had. "I'm sorry if I was overly forward with you Kaylee," he said sincerely. "Beaumonde . . . was some time ago for me." He doesn't think he can even say how far it was - things had been a blur after that.
