Psychology Introvert/Extrovert: Extrovert Best Childhood Memory: The day he was adopted by the Thornhills. He’d spent three years in the London muggle orphanage after his parents were mysteriously killed in a house fire while he survived unharmed. The Thornhills had discovered that the muggle authorities had put him in the province run orphanage and came to meet him soon after this discovery. It had been a perfect day and something about Luliane and Greogorian made him feel complete. They had felt so too, because he was adopted just two weeks later. At five years old he knew that he’d finally found his place in the world. Worst Childhood Memory: Even though he’s been told he was too young to remember, he’s pretty sure he can remember the night his biological parents died. Well he remembers the smell of burning, ash in his mouth, and a heat so intense from the fire… there were screams too, he still has nightmares of those screams. But that’s all he remembers, but looking at his history the only moment it could be would be that night that his family home burned down. Worst Fear (will be their Boggart): Imp’s boggart will appear as Malcolm Baddock, he is terrified that it was his fault that his parents died. So the boggart will be his biological father come back to exact revenge on his killer, or so Imp imagines.
Personality Include strengths, weaknesses, quirks, general opinion of school, and any major life events. Strengths Flying, Quidditch, Charms, and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Weaknesses Astronomy, Herbology, Transfirguration, Divinations, and Potions. Quirks Imperial truly deserves the shortened moniker, Imp. He is a trickster, a prankster, and a mischievous soul. If there is a joke to be made, he will find it. Even answering teachers, if he can turn the response into a question he will, to hell with the consequences. General Opinion of School School is a vessel for finding fun and making merry. If classes are passed that is a bonus, but not a necessity. Major life events Both of his biological parents were proud and loyal Slytherins, they saw the might of blood and birth over skill. From the moment he was born, even after a war that showed the error of those ways, they preached their beliefs to Imperial. They were rich, because the Baddock line was rich. They lived in a moderate manor house on the outskirts of London, and secretly continued their way of life before the war that tore the Wizarding world apart. This was the life that Imperial would have been brought up into, he would not have become the funny and good natured boy he grew into.
Even though the thought makes him feel guilty, he is thankful that he was saved from that fate. Since his parents had no living family there is really no one to ask, but he is often curious to know if he was an ill fit with his biological parents. Sadly this is a question that will never be answered. A few days after his second birthday there was a horrendous fire, the Baddock manor house burnt to the ground. Somehow Imperial crawled out of the house and away from the raging fire. No one has been able to discover how. Muggle authorities found him wandering the London streets covered in ash and soot with a great deal of smoke damage to his lungs.
Wizarding authorities found the Baddock house and assumed that Imperial had died alongside his parents. Thus it was that the young boy spent three years in a muggle orphanage, under the name John Doe. Every day he prayed for someone to come and want him, but the years stretched on and on and on. He watched other children come and go, yet he stayed. When he had given up hope a beautiful young couple came there specifically to see him. It was an amazing day! They took him out to a park, he’d never been to one of those before. The Thornhills bought him ice cream and some new clothing, and then fed him a dinner better then he’d ever had. When they returned him to the orphanage with a promise to return Imperial was terrified to believe them.
The Thornhills fulfilled their promise and came back two weeks later, not to visit but to take him home with them to their large and spacious house in London proper. It was like a dream and for a long time, almost three years, he kept thinking that he’d wake up and be back in the orphanage. Later he would learn that there had been an investigation into the burning of his biological parents home, the only thing that had been discovered was that he’d survived and was in that orphanage. Luliane and Gregorian could not conceive even with the help of the best healing witches and wizards. So when they read about the discovery of Imperial they decided to meet him and the rest is history as they fell completely in love.
Imperial’s new life was amazing and happy and nurturing. However, he carried around the guilt of his biological parent’s death with him. Even ten years later her still wakes up in the middle of the night covered in sweat having dreamed of a fire that screamed… He did an excellent job to keep that to himself because his parents didn’t need that on their conscience. Why worry them? There wasn’t anything they could do that they hadn’t already tried. This pain and guilt that he somehow caused the death of his parents gave him something of a chip on his shoulder. This is not to say that he wasn’t a happy boy, because he was, but he had a tendency to be overly guarded.
Preferring the company of his family or the Quidditch players from school he earned a reputation as an elitist. Imp just doesn’t see much need in branching out, mostly to protect himself because he has a innate distrust of most people. Often the subject of crushes he does his best to remain out of reach, to the chagrin of his mother. When he feels someone is getting to close he often resorts to sarcasm and jokes to force them to keep their distance. Which has earned him the reputation of a prankster.
At home he knows just how lucky he is, however, he does at times feel like he doesn’t belong. Because isn’t thee blood in his veins Slytherin? Weren’t his biological parents people of disipicable beliefs and habits? Hadn’t he been the cause of their death? Of course no one had ever been able to tell what had happened, but how else could a two year old survive unless somehow they were the cause? In these moments it frustrates him that no one talks of that night, that there is no one from his past that can answer his questions.
However, these moments of maudlin are few and far between and he has done a fairly good job at keeping his adoptive parents oblivious to them. At school he enjoys his popularity and sees no reasons to befriend outside his established circles, though perhaps he had not yet met the right person to break him out of his shell.
Example
Standing there with his arms out spread eagle, Imperial tried not to roll his eyes or sigh too heavily. Personally he saw no point in a new set of dress robes; he had no plans to use them. However, he’d grown nearly three inches in the summer and nothing fit. In the last week he’d been fitted for all new robes, as well as, all new clothing. It had been a furious shopping week while he was done with the whole fiasco after the first hour of the first day. Still he tried not to be too defiant or annoying when his mom dragged him to the next store and the next, the repeated the whole thing the next few days.
Finally the tailor was done and he could step down off the pedestal, “You’re done now, I believe that we’ve everything you’ll need.” His mom smiled, pleased they had finished in time for the new year.
“That mean I can go… to… the… broom store?!” He wiggled his eyebrows at her and rubbed his hands together waiting for his mom’s answer. She laughed and waved her hand, Imp was off like a lightning bolt. The agreement had been that if he got his assignments done for the new year and didn’t complain too much through the shopping that his mother had planned, that he could then buy himself a new broom for the new Quidditch year.
Inside the broom shoppe he examined each option, this was a very heavy decision. After an hour his mom came looking for him, not exactly surprised that he’d still not made up his mind. She gave him a timeline of half an hour or he’d have to come back later in the month with his father to buy the broom. She went to pick up some bits and bobs, leaving him in the shoppe to choose. It was agony! This was not something that could be rushed because his mother had a dinner party planned!
When his mother came back ready to leave he had not made his choice and drug his feet all the way back to their house. At the dinner party he fell into deep and heated debate with some of his father’s ministry buddies about the pros and cons of the current top of the line brooms. Imp’s father just laughed and watched, his dear boy could certainly hold his own in such a discussion. By the end of the night he was still no closer to making his decision.
