AMERICAN GODS SEASON 2 EPISODE 1 SCREENCAPS


872 CAPS, PART 1 (289 AESTHETIC) AND PART 2 (583 FACES)


This is sort of a new idea, which [info]oslo and I chatted about. Since American Gods is such a visually stunning kind of show, and there are a lot of shots that wouldn't make an actor cap set but would make a general one, I decided to try it out this way. Aesthetic are caps that are more of the visual style of the show, faces are obviously the actors themselves in faces I think could be icons! I'm trying this out. Not all shows work this way, but American Gods is a special looking one.

Yeah I feel like there are some things that are just too visual to just go face by face, like you miss all these cool atmospheric things.

In ~culturewars people started a trend of using icons of people turned with their back to the camera to signify they were compromised, and it really made me think about what imagery other than faces we use to tell the story, so I think this is just another element to that bc aesthetics are so much!

nell once pointed out that i icon a lotttt of body shots and body language compared to some icon makers, AND YEAH LIKE— you dontttt always need to have a “super zoomed in on a face” shot in order to convey an emotion? I LOVE MORE DISTANT ONES TOO.

YAY I'm glad people like the idea, I just was like ughhhh these scenes are so pretty I hate jumping around them so I CHOSE NOT TO.
