Which is a fair question; Gretchen will soon look back on her response and cringe in embarrassment (really, a simple "no" would suffice). Right now, though, while being quizzed on a painful subject by a complete stranger, she flips.
"No, okay?" she snarls, rounding on him. She very nearly hits him; her arm is drawn back before she quite realizes what she's doing, and she has to yank back hard on that impulse. "I don't have a pack, I don't have anyone. I'm the only one -- "
Yeah, she's not going to tell a complete stranger that. If she keeps looking at him, she's going to punch him. She throws herself backward into her seat, clamps her hands over her eyes, and concentrates very hard on breathing in and out.
Once she's pretty sure she can talk to him without attempting to bite him (or worse, crying), she continues. "I couldn't do anything to your city even if I wanted to. I told you, all I want is to be left alone. Happy?"
