28th of May 2008, Jin and Yuu
Jin yawned as he looked around again, this time (for seriously) considering to call his friend. He was late. And sure, work could be a reason and a very acceptable excuse and all but he had said that he was off now. That he didn't have work and thus that was not a reason to be late.
Late by six minutes by the way.
As another sigh left his chest, Jin turned around one more time and immediately saw how his blonde (well somewhat) friend walked towards him. So he wouldn't be any later than this, that was good, but it was still six minutes too much.
"You're late."
Yuu took a few quick steps to reach is friend faster.
"Had to do something about my hair, don't like having it up like that..." He took a glance at his watch, noticing the time and made a face at Jin.
"You can't stand being alone for six minutes?"
"Well -I- can," the older one replied as he then turned and started walking to the restaurant where they were going to have food. Delicious food, too! He was starving, why hadn't he had anything to eat yet anyway?
"But I'm really hungry so my stomach wouldn't like it," Jin continued and after having walked through the door he glanced over his shoulder at Yuu. "Besides I haven't had anything since the breakfast on the plan so I've got all the right in the world to be hungry."
Mumbling something as he followed Jin, poking his back on the way inside, just for fun really... though you know what would've been more fun? Exactly, to poke him on his collar bone, but that wouldn't be very nice would it? Especially for the other customers of the restaurant. So he wouldn't do it, also because Jin would make him pay if he did.
"Rina kinda promised to cook for me some day~" He said then, because he had to, because it was adorable, and he would meet her later today, today was good.
As he heard the name of their best friend's sister, Jin couldn't help but blink a bit. He still wasn't used to it. He was happy for Yuu and all, of course he was! And he was happy for Rina too because she apparently liked him? So he was happy for them! But he still felt bad about keeping this a secret from Tomohisa... The truth would come out sooner or later and in a way Jin personally couldn't wait, but on the other hand... once Tomohisa would find out all hell would break loose. And for that? That he definitely -could- wait for.
"Yui cooks for me all the time," Jin replied as they had seated themselves and then grinned up at his friend. What? It was fun to point out that his girlfriend was much more awesome than Yuu's. Because she was, Yui was better and more awesome than everyone else.
Yuu pouted at his friend then, that was so not fair. Jin and Yui had been together longer than him and Rina, and their situation was totally not the same! And... and... he couldn't wait to have Rina cook for him.
"So? I would too if the other choice would be having to eat something you've cooked~" He smiled then, taking a look at the menu. "How was LA?"
Jin glared at the younger one then, for a couple of seconds not wanting to believe that he just had -said- that. Okay so Jin had messed up a couple of times, but he wasn't completely hopeless! He could cook and pretty damn well sometimes too! This was just Yuu being jealous, that was right, because his girlfriend didn't cook for him as much as Yui did. Because Yui was awesome and Rina... she was nice! She was nice and all but not as awesome as Yui.
"It was okay," Jin replied and glanced down at the menu. Honestly he didn't want to talk about how it had been over there right now, it had been... Right now he was a bit torn over if he wished he hadn't gone or not. Not that anything could be done about it, but even so. "It was nice to meet some friends again," which was true. That had been nice, though of course that had been the only thing too, but -still-.
"Did anything happen while I was gone?," the older one asked then as he looked up at Yuu. "Did he find out? Did you learn how to fly yet?"
"Just okay?" Yuu asked and gave his friend a questioning look, this was -Jin-, LA wasn't supposed to be 'just okay'. Letting it go for a while as he went back to reading the menu. Trying to decide between two dishes, (but failing) Yuu looked up from the menu as he heard Jin talk.
"You would know already had he found out...," he let out a little laugh then, it sucked really, to do this behind Tomohisa's back, but it wasn't like he could just go and tell him... you just... don't do that. And what had that question about flying been? Maybe he should just ignore it. "What are you getting?"
"The pasta sallad," Jin mumbled in reply as he was currently trying to decide whether or not to have a beer with that. Honestly he didn't feel like eating now. He knew he sort of had to, if he wanted to not faint or get a headache or just be in a bad mood, but thinking of LA again... It just made him lose his appetite.
It didn't take too long before the two of them had ordered and quickly thereafter received what they had asked for. Actually seeing the food in front of him made things a bit easier for Jin though, which he wasn't to complain about. Besides, if the two of them could just change the subject and talk about something else then- Ah.
"Did you see that by the way?," Jin looked up at Yuu. "That thing to fill out? You did it?"
Swallowing down the food he had stuffed in his mouth, Yuu took a sip from his glass before replying.
"Yeah.." He had seen that indeed, and he had done it too. And man if it hadn't been awkward. "...If you mean the romance thing?" He had felt like doing something romantic after that, but as he thought about it, he didn't really know what to do. He couldn't really see himself doing those kinds of things anyways. Though if Rina wanted him to, he would.
"Yeah," Jin quickly replied, not at all willing to let Yuu think he was talking about the one that had been about sex. Sure, he wasn't really embarrassed when it came to things like that and he could talk to Tomohisa and Yuu about things like sex, of course. To Ryo and Kazuya and everyone else too, but that wasn't what he was talking about now and he didn't really -feel- like talking about sex right now.
"That one. You doing it good?" Of course he didn't. Jin knew Yuu wasn't a romantic kind of guy but maybe he'd come up with something to do, something normal...ish, or maybe he had some -kind- of an idea and Jin could steal it. That would be nice.
Yuu laughed then. He? Good with romantic stuff? No. He hadn't really done anything that could be called romantic before, sure he'll probably have to try at some point, but... that didn't mean he was going to be good at it.
"No..." he said then, a bit more seriously. "You?"
Jin pulled a face as he put the fork in his mouth again. He didn't like talking about this, he decided. Romance and stuff was okay, but he didn't like talking about things he wasn't good at - and if there was something he sucked at, it was being romantic. He wanted to be, he wanted to make Yui realise that she was the most beautiful and amazing and wonderful and all those things, ever. And sexiest, but that wasn't what romance was for, was it?
"Noooooooooope," he answered then before swallowing his food and reached out to drink some of the tea he had gotten served. "Fail at it. Sucks really." It did. Very much so.
Leaning back in his chair, Yuu fiddled with his napkin before looking up.
"It's just... weird." He brought a hand up to fix his hair. "...really... I have no idea how to be like that..." So Jin sucked at being romantic as well... Tomohisa probably didn't... not like he could go and ask him about that stuff, it would only end up with his friend forcing him to tell why he was asking, could he lie to him then? Face to face... Yuu took a sip from his glass as he decided not to stress about Tomohisa finding out right now.
"Me neither," Jin sighed then, deciding that he was already full - after just having had half of what was on his plate. Pretty rare actually... but more than anything he wanted to meet Yui right now. Talk to Yui. But it was getting late, wasn't it? Stupid time and timezones. He had worked everything out but then as he had arrived in Narita... all of that schedule was completely gone, and Yui had work today and he had had to sleep and now food and Yuu and... Tomohisa would probably kick his ass a couple of times if he didn't call him at some point, too.
"It's weird and awkward and really," looking up at his friend, Jin smiled a bit. "You can't really ask them about it either, right? That'd be weird, wouldn't it?"
"Mm..." Yuu mumbled, finishing what was left on his plate, and as it looked like Jin wasn't going to finish his, he quickly decided to taste some of his pasta sallad as well, it looked good! So he had to taste it. No harm done, he was just helping out. "It would..." He let out a sigh before continuing.
"It'd be embarrasing really..."
"No shit!," Jin exclaimed in reply then and sat up straight as he leaned back. "It'd be completely embarrassing and it'd be -kinda- obvious that you suck at if you have to ask her, y'know? Besides, what if you decide to do something and then she's not in the mood? Like. At all? Would suck like a lot."
With that, he sighed and shook his head a bit. Why was this whole relationship-thing so difficult anyway? Sure, he loved being in a relationship, being with Yui made him so happy and it was so... amazing, she made him happy. But even so it was so difficult to do everything right all the goddamn time. Why wasn't there like, a book! A book on how to be the perfect boyfriend. But then again, just like they sang in that song... No one -really- knew the right way to love and all that stuff...
Yuu frowned a little as he imagined the scene in his head, doing something romantic and then she wouldn't be in the mood for it... that, that would suck so much.
"Totally," he then sighed. Maybe it would be smart to just... not do anything... too romantic at least? Maybe once, if, Tomohisa found out, and once he had accepted it and all, maybe then he could ask him to help? Maybe. Man this was such a mess now that he thought about it... how on earth had he gotten himself in this anyways?
"Maaaaan... this sucks..." He should probably get going soon, if he was going to meet up with Rina after this.
"You kidding? This sucks more than things usually do, this like...," Jin sighed and scratched the back of his head. This was so not awesome, was Yui the romantic type? At one point he had thought that all girls were but then, later he had found out that, no, they weren't. So maybe Yui wasn't like that, but... if she wasn't, then he would be a bt disappointed. He wanted to do something romantical for her, he wanted to take her to some awesome dinner or something but what if something was -wrong- that day he did it. What if she was on her period and had the worst mood and moodswings and cramps ever? As if he'd want to actually hang out with her then? That was a no, by the way. And it went for all women, he would never, voluntarily hang out with a girl on her period. Never.
"Really sucks."
Yuu lifted his head as he realized that they had said that at the same time, and a laugh escaped him.
"Isn't it a bit silly though..." He said then, relaxing a bit, it would turn out okay right? If he could face Tomohisa and they could get over that, then he was pretty sure he'd be able to at least try doing something romantic without ruining everything.
"...Maybe it'll happen naturally?" After he had emptied his glass he hummed a bit as he pulled out his wallet. "My turn?"
At that Jin couldn't help but grin slightly.
"Yup," he answered without even thinking about it - when someone offered to pay, did you think he would say no? Of course not. He would pay sometimes though, of course he did, but it wasn't until after people reminded him of that it was -his- turn that it happened. He was a bit forgetful like that... and cheap. But mostly forgetful!
Yuu gave a suspicious look at the other one then, but in the end ended up paying for them, he didn't really mind, it was Jin after all. Fixing his hair as they walked out from the restaurant, Yuu turned to face Jin, "Where you heading?"
"I...," Jin stopped dead in his tracks at that and looked around quickly before he grabbed Yuu's arm and pulled him in between two stores. He didn't mind if people recognized him and he knew that Yuu didn't either, but to be recognized and... if they would hear what he was about to say? It would be embarrassing. Way too embarrassing.
As he was sure of that no one was listening though, he looked up at the other one.
"I am considering.. going to some flowershop. Coming?"
Yuu blinked at Jin then, he wanted to... to go to a... flowershop? Jin wanted to...
"Sure?" If Jin was going to get flowers for Yui, then no way in hell would he face Rina without flowers as well. No way. He could do it. Totally could. Checking the time from his watch he made a face at how late it was already.
"Know any place nearby?"
"They are everywhere," Jin muttered as he then walked out on the road again and looked around. There had to be some flowershop somewhere near... if he was going to be romantic, then he was going to be it now. Now or never! And there was no other... perfect... moment... or time... or... something like that, than the present! So it had to be now. But he wasn't going to do it alone, no, and thus he had Yuu with him.
It didn't take too long before they found a flowershop and, of course, being as inexperienced as two guys over 20 years old could be when it came to being romantical and doing romantic stuff for their girl, they didn't know much better than to walk up to where the roses were immediately.
"Hm...," Jin hummed as he tipped his head and looked at the flowers. So many colours... but red stood for love, didn't it? Yellow for friendships... what was pink and blue for?
"Hmmm..." Yuu repeated after Jin as he stared at the roses, did Rina like roses? Hopefully she did... didn't girls usually like them? Roses were like the ideal romantic flower or something.
...How many should he get then? One? Would that look cheap? Maybe a few... hopefully he wouldn't over do this. "....How many are you going to get?" He turned to look at Jin then, wondering if the other guy would know any better.
"Saa...," the older one answered as he folded his arms and looked at the flowers, almost as if waiting for them to answer. To tell them how many they should get. One would look weird... but then again, if they took one big rose wouldn't that be kind of cool? But if so they needed to get a gift or something too, didn't they?
"One?," he suggested then, a small smile growing on his lips. "And chocolate? That's good isn't it?" Jin turned to look at his friend but didn't manage to suggest anything more before he noticed how two girls were looking at them. Had they heard? Did they know? They couldn't... Maybe they had do, no - if they found out, bad things could happen.
Still looking at the girls, Jin gave a short nod. He had to be nice now, he had to be really nice... To ugly girls. Why were they -ugly- girls?!
"Aka-Akanishi-kun, right?," one of the girls hesitantly asked as she tried her best to hold back a big smile. "I'm a big fan!"
"Thank you," Jin mumbled and smiled slightly. Nice, had to be nice. She couldn't find out, she couldn't find out. No one could find out.
"Are you buying flowers for your girlfriend?"
Yuu stared at the girls, then at Jin, then at the girls again before stepping from behind, next to his friend and smiling widely.
"Nope~ To my mom, it's her birthday~" he said then, nodding a bit. And he paid for this guy's food, Jin would so owe him for this.
"Need to get going now though~ Sorry." He turned around and poked Jin on his side to get his attention. "So we should both get one hu?"
Jin smiled a bit, almost as if apologizing for wanting to punch her right now, before he hummed in reply to Yuu and turned around to look at the roses again. Okay so he needed a big red rose and he needed it now. Fast. Why was some people so stupid? So what if he -was- buying flowers for his girlfriend? As if it was any of her business? Not really! Stupid goddamn annoying people.
"This one looks good," he said then once he had found a rose that looked like it would be good enough for Yui. "No?" A red one, of course.
Yuu nodded to Jin, and pointed at another rose "I think I'll take that?" ...Or would she like a pink one better? Nah, wasn't red what you usually got when you wanted to be roma... when you bought roses for your mother.
"Mom likes red so I think these will do~" He motioned at one of the workers to come and give them their roses so that they could pay and get the hell out of there. ...And get chocolate.
Five minutes later found Jin and Yuu leaving the flowershop and instead heading to one of the hundreds of shops that had chocolate. He wouldn't do with just anything though, it had to be at least a little special... some nice brand or something. Chocolate from Belgium... Where did you find that?
"Thanks," the older one mumbled after a while, figuring he should thank the other one for helping him out back then. "I'm not giving this to your mom though~"
"Aw, but that would make my mom so happy," Yuu pouted at Jin as they passed some clothing shops. He didn't mean that of course... or well, sure it would've made his mother happy, but he knew very well for who that rose was ment to.
"I hope we won't totally screw up this..." He mumbled as he looked at the nicely wrapped rose he was holding. "Now where the heck are all the chocolate shops?!"
"Can't screw this up," Jin agreed as he looked around and eventually laid eyes on a small store that looked somewhat like a café... only it obviously wasn't a café but... something that looked like it would have sweets.
"There?," he suggested and nodded to the store. Sure, it probably didn't have special awesome brand chocolate from Belgium but that was okay, as long as it wasn't something like pocky. As they got inside, Jin grinned widely and nodded to himself. He was pretty awesome, all these things of chocolate... Yui liked chocolate, didn't she? Surely all girls liked chocolate?
Yuu hummed as he looked around the shop, they had quite a lot of different kinds of chocolate here... now what would Rina like... Maybe he should just get a box with various tastes inside? That way there'd be at least something she'd like...
"Should we get one of those box things?" He pointed behind the counter, where all the boxes were disaplayed. "And like... choose from those..." he then pointed at the counter where all the different kinds of chocolates and pralines and what not were. "...Rina likes chocolate right?" Yuu turned to look at Jin then, probably looking a bit worried.
The older one looked back at Yuu, trying to remember whether he had seen Rina eat chocolate sometime... He probably had? But right now he couldn't recall any of those times... But then again she was a girl, she was a -girl- so...
"Stupid," he decided to answer then before nodding. "All girls like chocolate, of course she does." Because -all- girls in the world loved chocolate. Even those in Africa who had never had it. Yes, even them.
"Boxes... sounds great, right?," he continued then and glanced up at his friend. Boxes were surely the best thing to take, because that... a box of chocolate and a rose? Wasn't that super romantic?! Of course it was!
Laughing a little, Yuu approached the counter, taking a look at the sweets, wondering which ones tasted the best. Probably the ones that looked good? And even if they didn't taste awesome, at least they looked awesome... so... so it wouldn't be that bad.
"What shape should I get..? For the box?" He turned back to Jin then. "Is a heart shaped too much?" He ruffled his hair a bit and turned back to look at the chocolates, maybe he'd just ask the guy at the counter to choose the best ones.
Ew wasn't that a bit too cheesy? Jin thought so at least... but then again some girls loved it that way, some girls loved a lot of romance and when things were a bit overdone... So maybe Rina would like it if she got chocolate in a heart shaped box...
"Maybe...," he replied absently as he looked at the boxes behind the counter. He would probably just go with a square one... probably... and some nice chocolate inside. That sounded great, didn't it? But what -kind- did you put in it...?
Okay maybe a heart shaped one was a bit too much, especially since it wasn't for any special occasion.. like say he'd purpose to her? Then it would probably be alright... but with their relationship? He should probably go with... the round one! Wasn't it a bit... special?
After having told the guy which box he wanted, and some pointing and asking about what each of the sweets were filled with, he held a round box full of chocolates in his hand, with a nicely tied ribbon holding it all togeter. Now wasn't this cool... Hopefully she'd think so too.
For Jin it took a bit longer to decide on what sweets to get, but once that was done and they had both paid for their things, he had ended up with a box filled with all kinds of chocolate; dark, milk, white, with nuts, without nuts... Hopefully she liked at least one of those. He had to find out which she liked the most though, so he could buy more of that at some point... In the states a lot of girls liked dark chocolate but in Japan he hadn't met many who did. Maybe Yui disliked dark chocolate? Or what if she was allergic to nuts? But she had used nuts in cooking at one point and eaten that so she couldn't really be allergic to it... Which was good.
"Man," Jin mumbled as he put the rose down in the little bag he had gotten from the store. "How do we give this? Seriously, I have no idea of how to- We just hand it over or should we say something too? That'll be... like. Embarrassing." Had he been asked what he thought of two guys trying to be romantic, Jin would have laughed. But right now he and Yuu were serious about this, very serious because it had to be done right because he couldn't mess this up. He just couldn't.
"I... have no idea..." Yuu mumbled then, looking at the rose. What should they say? Could he just hand it over like it was something that happened all the time? He probably couldn't right?
"Maaan..." Why on earth had Jin even suggested that they should go and get this?! Why did they have to be romantic -today-, wouldn't tomorrow (or next week) be as good?
"...What do people usually do?"
"I don't know...," the shorter one mumbled and shook his head. Buying flowers and chocolate, it hadn't been all that difficult actually. It had been a bit weird to decide -what- chocolate to get and so on, but in the long run it hadn't been so bad. But now he had to... give it. That would be so embarrassing. Probably so embarrassing that he'd, like, blush? Oh god that would be awful. He couldn't do that. He'd just have to hand it over.
"In movies and stuff," Jin muttered as he started to walk to where he had parked his car. "Don't they usually do the whole 'I love you' bit then? I mean that'd be weird and awkward of course but... Something like that?"
... He... He hadn't really said 'I love you' to Rina yet had he? Did he? ...Did she? Would she freak out if he did? Okay so this was weird. It wasn't some random girl he had met at a party, this was Rina, he couldn't screw things up.
"... I... dunno..." Would she find it weird if he'd just suddenly give her these gifts and tell her he loves her? "...I... You know... We haven't really done that... 'I love you' part yet... y'know?"
Oho? Jin glanced at Yuu then and grinned slightly.
"Well there you go then," he shrugged before realising that... "Unless you don't of course?" This was weird. This was very weird, because we're talking about Yuu and Tomohisa's sister here. She had been just Tomohisa's sister for years. Then she had gradually become Rina. And now she was Yuu's girlfriend... For Jin that would take some time to get used to. He didn't mind it though, of course not. But it was still a bit -weird-. He could get used to it though and he would... Probably Tomohisa could and -would- too. It would just take a bit longer. Perhaps. Most... likely a lot longer.
"I do!" Yuu said then, a bit louder than he ment to. "I just... don't know if she does..." He mumled a few moments later, looking at the ground as he voiced his thoughts. He would just have to do this right? Just get it done and see how things would turn out. It couldn't be -that- bad right? As they reached the parking lot Yuu turned to face Jin while taking a few steps backwards. "...Good luck then..." They'd need that. He would at least.
"Huh?," Jin looked at Yuu and then glanced at his car before returning his attention to the younger one. "Don't want a ride?" Maybe this was just Jin being clingy though. Because he really could be, and he really felt a bit clingy right now. He felt a bit... a bit scared. It was scary, this was very scary. He didn't want to be alone and if he could stall then he would! Because he was a coward. Sometimes. You wouldn't ever hear him admit that out loud though.
"Eh?" Yuu looked at Jin for a while before walking to the car and waiting for him to unlock it. "Sure~" To be honest, he was thankful that Jin asked that. Maybe he'd come up with an awesome plan or something cool to say while they were on their way, who knew? It was Jin after all... Which also meant that he might not come up with anything at all, whatever. Having seated himself inside the car, Yuu just leaned back in the seat, staring outside the window.
"This," Jin started then once he had seated himself in the car. "This will probably end up going just great." It had to, after all. It had to go just perfectly, because... because that was what they did. Him, Yuu and Tomohisa, they did everything perfectly. They -existed- perfectly. So of course this would just go as well, it had to. Also, the girls, they were their girlfriends. They were girls, of course they would love this kind of stuff. Of course they would!
"It'll go perfectly," he said again, trying to convince both himself and Yuu as he started the car. Yup, it was going to end up just perfectly. Definitely. Without doubt. It had to.
"Mmm..." Yuu mumbled as he checked his phone, no new messages or missed calls. "Yeah, it'll be just fine..." It had to. Besides if Jin could do it without failing, then he could too. And... and... Rina would get happy right? And Yui would too. And then everything would be great. Yes. It couldn't go wrong. Not when they had chocolate and roses! Weren't those the most romantic gifts ever and all that?! They'd definitely be okay.
