Alexandra had horrible ideas a lot of the time. That much was true. She acted like she was calm and collected, but right now, she was just freaking out. She didn't want to admit it, but the fact that the Gods didn't tell her and didn't warn her and didn't didn't didn't do anything to prepare her for the invasions really upsets her because she is a child of Greece and a favourite of the Gods and you'd think that they'd treat her a little better than this. Plus, everything she had done at home hadn't prepared her to be alone in the middle of a goddamn (sorry, Zeus) invasion of will-never-die soldiers. So right now, the odds were kind of stacked. Just kind of. So what did she decide was a brilliant, selfless, horrible idea? Distract the soldiers. It sounded a lot better in her head, but to be honest, she hadn't been thinking really but looking at Sebastian and Killian and the soldiers and hoping that everyone else was safe somewhere. There was probably a very small shot that her plan would work, but she was banking on that small shot. Let the Gods come in and interfere, just as they had done for Greece. That was Plan B. They had to be watching, testing her, waiting to see what her next move was. They would watch out for her. "Don't tell me how stupid this is," she said quickly, rushing through her words so that she wouldn't have to face the inevitable protests, "I know what I'm doing." Of course, she was lying. Who really know what they were doing in this? She threw herself into the fire -- so to speak -- and was immediately surrounded by an army -- an army -- of the soldiers. It would be claustrophobic if she didn't have more pressing matters at hand. All she has to do, she thought, is to get them away from everyone else. She didn't care (well, she cared a little) how long they remained out of her and everyone else's way, but as long as they were not interfering with their defense of Camulus, then that would be fine. Her powers don't work against the soldiers very well because they're mind-based. She doubted that they had fears for her to manipulate, but instead of feeling helpless like she had the past two days, she realized that she had to do something. They were on her territory now. If they didn't have fears that she could capitalize on, she would just have to find a way to use the other fears and nightmares she had stored to attack. Lightning. Would lightning work? Lightning it was. Summoning up a large bolt of lightning, she aimed the first one at the one on the farthest left. More lightning bolts were summoned, these ones smaller and with less force than the first one but still effective, and she went to work aiming them at the soldiers. There wasn't time to see if it worked; she needed to continue barraging them with unending attacks so that she could keep them distracted. She'd make her way out then. Without any more thought, Alexandra continued her attacks, ruthlessly and without stopping. If she let go of an inch, they'd advance. The first energy round hit her, thankfully, without as much force as it had, because her own attacks were distracting them. Still, when someone got hit with an energy round, it hurt. A lot. She fell to the ground hard, wincing as her arms broke the fall. She was vaguely aware that there was a stinging, piercing pain in her lower stomach, but for the first time in her life, Alex felt ready to fight. Lord knows she hated fighting and was ready to abstain from any fighting in the Tournament, but for some reason, she was ready to fight. Willing to fight. Maybe it was the adrenaline talking, but Alex felt consumed by this desire. It was recharging her power, though not healing her physical wounds. The second energy round hit the same place as the first. This time, she was more than vaguely aware of the pain in her stomach, and she gritted her teeth. This wasn't exactly how it was supposed to go, you know. Just as the Gods were supposed to tell her (warn her) of the invasion, Alex was supposed to be the distraction just for a little while so that she could get away too. But this was not happening. Walking upright was extraordinarily difficult; her legs were weak; and she could just feel the blood. All in all, she was sure she looked pretty awful. She knew she felt pretty awful. The only consolation was that at least she had gotten to attack the goddamn (sorry, Zeus) ninja soldiers. She hoped that this was enough to keep them at bay while everyone recouped their losses. |
