He hated that it had come to this, but he didn't know what else to do. Keleios fixed him teas and other concoctions that helped, for a time. She stayed with him and walked with him in his dreams. She had been his sanity after both Dean and Cas left. He would be forever in her debt, but he knew now the whole thing was too big for the two of them to face it alone.
He needed more help. He needed something that would halt the hallucinations all together. Keleios had done so much, but her potions only seemed to hold the visions at bay. And it finally occurred to Sam why. Her potions came from her word, not his. It was a wonder they had helped at all, but they had. Without Keleios' help, Sam knew he would be insane by now.
The fact that he was going to see Ruby now wasn't a reflection on Keleios or her potions. he knew she had done all she can. But he also knew she was limited to her own experience. She could experiment, but she couldn't know what would work against Lucifer. It came to Sam in a dream, and while it occurred to him that the dream may have been another of Lucifer's antics, he had to try.
The more he thought about it, the more he thought it just might work. Contacting Ruby wasn't easy for him, but he'd forced his fingers to push the buttons on the keypad. He erased it three times before he managed to hit send. And then there was no going back.
He had to try.
He'd arranged to meet her in secret. He didn't want any of the other Sams or Deans, or anyone to know what he was doing. He hared tiptoeing around Keleios, but he knew she would try to stop him. If he were her, he'd stop him, and lock him in a padded room, and she'd be well within reason to do that. What he was doing was a kind of personal suicide, especially if it didn't work. But he knew it would. It had to.
"Hello, Ruby," he said softly as he approached her.
