"Keep your cool, kid," Thomas muttered to Daniel, as soon as the familiar figures of Harry and Inari came in to sight. He glanced at Justine, wished not fir the first (or last) time that he could hold her hand. They walked side by side, with Daniel a few steps ahead. Thomas shook his head, wondered when he'd become so domesticated, to think of other people as family in the truest sense of the word, that had nothing to do with blood.
He put a hand up to signal his brother, as if Harry wouldn't see him coming a mile away. They would meet with a fence between them, which made Thomas angry enough that his Hunger pushed at the front of his mind, almost taunting him, daring him to indulge and show himself out to be a monster. He bit it back and stuffed his hands in his pockets, determined to keep his calm, as the three of them approached the two on the other side.
"Nice day, at least. The weather's holding out." Thomas didn't give a shit at all about the weather.
