Kale was sitting down in a chair by the door, the scent of grease floating through the air as he waited for his order to finally be called. He was at The Bottle Rocket, seeing how he knew they made the best burgers in the city (from Kale’s perspective – he was extremely low maintenance), waiting to bring back some food to the shop, where Thomas was still working on the protective wards he had requested. He hadn’t seen the man in some time, but the two had met about a year ago when he decided it was about time to give the shop a bit of a makeover after coming home from traveling. The angel-blooded carpenter was the one who wound up designing and creating new and improved cabinets and display cases, which Kale was more than satisfied with. They talked every now and then, but not often enough for Kale to not feel a little guilty asking him for a favor.
Thankfully, Thomas was just as simple as Kale was, and all he requested in terms of payment this time was that a cup of coffee was waiting for him when he got to the shop, and that he wanted a burger, a coke, and fries for dinner. That was what brought the tattooed man to Bottle Rocket, finding that when his name finally was called, he had to motivate himself just to stand up and get the food.
He was so God damn tired…
Grabbing the bag, he hailed the next cab back to the shop, paying the driver before stepping foot onto the curb. Walking back inside, Kale first moved into the back room, placing down two containers of food for the two employees who were closing shop that night, and then walked around back to find Thomas, who seemed to be just about done with what he was doing. Not wanting to disturb him, he grabbed one of the plastic chairs he and Nell had set up, and took a seat, placing the bag down at his side. All he would remove from it was a bottle of water, opening it to take a long sip.
