MUGGLE STUDIES LESSON WHO: Everyone! WHERE: Muggle Studies classroom WHEN: Wednesday, September 4th, 1997 (different time slots for different years) WHAT: The first Muggle Studies lesson
Students will notice that the Muggle Studies classroom has changed since Charity Burbage was teaching. Much of the muggle equipment they had is all cleared out and the class looks rather empty. However, there is a medium-sized skull crystal ball on Alecto's desk as well as a myriad of rocks, crystals, and stones and a very old tarot deck. She wears a Black Tourmaline Pendant that she fiddles with during class.
In the corner is a dark swirling Pensieve in a stone bowl on a pedestal with a large birdcage type of enclosing around it.
Her voice is airy and sweet, as though she is incapable of raising her voice. She introduces herself again (for anyone who did not catch her journal note), and also discusses the textbook. She picks up her journal.
"These," she opens her journal and it shudders at her touch, "are obviously a new addition to the curriculum. I felt that Muggle Studies, as a elective, was just simply not giving the subject the attention and respect it deserves." Alecto walks around the classroom, flipping through the journal pages. It's clear she is lightly scanning over previous posts the students have made, and also -- are those book marks on certain pages?
She continues on. "There are many conversations and deep discussions to be had about muggles, inside and outside of the classroom. I hope that these magically inter-connected journals will provide a greater element to the education we give...especially considering we are doing something of a crash-course for you sixth and seventh years who haven't had the benefit of having my brother and I as professors until now!"
She giggles softly and closes her journal.
Today's class is an introduction. She will go around the class and students must stand, introduce themselves, and share 3-5 thing(s) that they've learned about Muggles. Since this is only a one hour class, not all people have to share this time, but she is aiming to hear from everyone.
