Severus Snape Confirmed as Hogwarts Headmaster
By Glenda Jameson
Severus Snape, long-standing Potions master at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and wizardry, was today appointed Headmaster in the most important of several staffing changes at the ancient school. Following the resignation of the previous Muggle Studies teacher, Alecto Carrow will take over the post while her brother, Amycus, fills the position of Defence Against the Dark Arts professor. "I welcome the opportunity to uphold our finest Wizarding traditions and values, and look forward to teaching the youth of our generation," says Alecto Carrow.
The Board of Governors had previously considered Professor Minerva McGonagall, the Deputy Headmistress under Albus Dumbledore, for the position, but ultimately decided that Snape was the better fit. Snape's appointment comes after months of uncertainty, after Dumbledore's mysterious death in June.
"I thank the Board of Governors for this appointment, and I look forward to an unforgettable year," writes Snape.
New professors have been appointed for Muggle Studies and Dark Arts, both subjects which are now required under the new curriculum. Muggle Studies will be taught by Alecto Carrow, who has an abundance of interest in the subject though does not have much teaching experience. Her brother, Amycus Carrow, will be the new professor of Dark Arts and is also a new professor but claims to have years of practical experience with the subject. Both are thrilled to start off their careers in Hogwarts, a place they cherish as their own home.
